    ^^^This!

They aren't going to offer any info that you don't ask. Ask questions and paint the picture in your head. Always remember ABC's and follow them.

Critical interventions are critical for a reason. Deal with them immediately and reassess every 5 minutes or every time you move the Pt or Pt status changes.

Additionally, turn your imaginary unit into a clown car. There's no limit to how many firefighters you can carry in the back with you. :p

Nope. All I know is that Alberta Health Services won't take online courses as having done them. They want you to be in a physical course. Check to see if where you work is the same.

You'll be fine. Take a deep breath, relax and go to work.

    Good luck.

    Medic or EMT?

    Either way:

MAKE SURE YOU REVIEW YOUR CRITICAL FAILS!

Little shit in the CF's can get overlooked.

For my paramedic, adult airway... I did it perfectly... Or so I thought.

I racked my brain for an hour tryin to figure out where I fucked up... Then I re-read the criticals.

In my practical, I verbalized "suction for no longer than 15 seconds"

Critical fail: suctioning for longer than 10 seconds (intubated).

thats strange...IIRC the proper length for adult is 15 seconds, child 10, neonate 5.

That shit doesn't matter in real life anyways....

Oh, I would be so pissed.....

i noticed i tend to screw up with the ABC's, not that i completely forget them, but after I get a general impression and the proctor says my patient is alert and oriented and is able to speak in complete sentences i forget to verbalise that he is apparently breathing has a patent airway and is circulating blood in someway shape or form and ill get nervous and forget stuff

It's 15 seconds for any BLS airway for adults, but for an als airway/ ET intubated adult, you only suction for 10 seconds, for nat reg.

I found out the hard way tho, because I had always though 15 seconds as well.

Passed all my practicals with a 100% except one... For that one the instructor picked on me and you could tell. I had an asthma pt half way through assessment I determined he needed albuterol. The instructor then told me albuterol is not an emt skill and halfway through my history taking sent the pt into cardiac arrest. A critical fail is not beginning CPR and ventilations in under 30 sec so I did that an almost failed from points for not getting all my history...I was the only one he did that to, asshat

A Santa Clara County Paramedic was off duty, driving his personal vehicle in the Oakland hills yesterday, when an unknown suspect started shooting at him, he was struck in the head and the vehicle crashed down a ravine.

    He's alive, but critical.

    http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/local/east_bay&id=9050282

He works for the same company that Brian Stowe would be working for (AMR employees in SCC almost all went to R/M in the 911 contract switch.)

    Strange and terrible.

On my internship, we had a gentleman approach us and ask if we had directions to a local "Topless Coffee Shop".

    (We didn't.)
