    Googled it. What a wannabe:rolleyes:

 just kidding man. If you like to do it then do it. I do lots of pointless but fun things when playing around in my manual:D

I have had both, 5 speed in my 2010 reg cab and 4spd auto in my 13 reg cab. I'm defiantly gonna go with the auto being better/stronger. At 30k my 5 speed needed a new t/o bearing and clutch... Not to mention every time I shifted from 1st to 2nd it always would grind (prob ruining syncros)unless over 3k rpm and it was a pita to get into reverse and into any gear if it was cold out, and I had mt 90 in it. Auto trans is working flawlesley shifs at the right times for the most part but I can always downshift if need be before the computer tells it to. Idk how the 5 speed auto and 6 speed manny in the v6'S are but from what I read the manuals have the same issues with the tb and input shaft, but the autos get contaminated with coolent sometimes so idk kinda makes me happy I got the 4 banger.

My only gripe so far w the 2.7L's manual trans is the goofy way you cant usually just downshift 2nd to first unless its below 5 or less mph. I just coast more, light lug it in 2nd other times.

Is this unique to the 4x4 stick, because my 5-lug stick will slip into 1st even at 20mph if I try, which I generally don't but decided to after reading lots of complaints from 4x4 guys. Trying to force it in doesn't work, but give it a second with light pressure and it slips right in.

General question, not just you Tacoyota.

could be 4wd unique, higher gear ratio might complicate the shift. After using a crazy 5 speed manual/auto shifting truck at work, my Tacoma shifting seemed menial.

Blip the gas and it will fall right into 1st dbl clutching too. If its very cold out its hard to get it even almost rolling with the clutch in I just let the clutch out and go into 1st with no clutch. Know your truck and the trans and you can shift all gears no clutch. Just don't do it often and don't grind lmao

Rated! They can tow more than that. Put a external trans cooler and you'll be golden. I had a ranger and installed an F150 external cooler with an electric fan from a ML350 Benz the thing never got past 180* towing. Doing donuts when it was stock I saw 275*

There are more determining factors to a tow rating rather than only transmission strength.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I've found double clutching to help with that.

Neither wins, but auto generally has the advantage in newer vehicles, just as manual generally did with older vehicles.

it's not related to the 4x4. i have the same issue with my 4x2. not that it is really an issue. 2nd gear is fine so long as you are going 5mph or so.

Haters? Why would you NOT be rev matching if you have a manual?

According to Toyota's website, the the Double Cab AUTO is rated for 6400lbs, while the Double Cab Manual is rated for 6500lbs. 100 more, manual wins. :D Fyi it can tow this (and a little more) pretty good using a weight distributing hitch. Backing it up an incline, or even starting up a hill is a bitch on the clutch tho, I'll give that win to the Auto.
