    Nope. TRD 8.4" has a notch out for the actuator. Also has different hole locations for the 3rd. It can be done but theres a decent amount of modification to be done. Not worth it IMO

    4.56 gears from ECGS are $215+shipping then you need an install kit on top of that. You know someone real close to you that can install it for you though:D haha

    Or you can save yourself the axle install trouble and just buy a lock right from them for $400+shipping. Would be cheaper in the end.

    Ive talked to a couple people and they have said nothing bad about the lockrite. Performs fine in snow and on ice, and the noise is barely noticeable. If i cant find an elocker i might go that route

    Yea may e. here for an audio convention and school visit.

    No your stock gears won't fit a TRD axle. However...ill take the axle..unless it's from a 4runner friend

    I'd never run a lockrite or any auto locker in a dd. period.

    Sure he does. Save up for a selectable. Pretty simple.

    He doesn't need to take his truck up a ton of trails he needs a locker anyways. It's his dd. a locker like that would just make him hurt his truck haha

    It won't kill him to save up. He would just ditch it at some point anyways.

    Less control. I'd want my lock on 100% when I want. And when I'm driving down the road I don't want it on at all.

    But maybe that's just me. I'd rather have the control.

    After many discussions with Mark (the raisin), I would never consider doing an auto locker on a vehicle that is a DD. They can be unpredictable, especially in slick conditions. He's had a few scary moments and I recall a couple is incidents where the truck has swapped ends in dangerous circumstances.

    An auto locker is only an option because of cost. An ARB is the only reasonable option and is very expensive. You have to choose the AL option knowing full well it could catch you out very easily.

    See thats what i thought too so i asked a fellow Canadian who lives in a similar area as me and it seemed to work fine for him. Only thing i was worried was the winter driving and the affects of it. See the quote above

    Theres a 4 runner on craiglist (Spokane) getting parted with the E locker rearend..its green I'll try and find the add if your interested..it also has leather interior (tan)..

    No thanks. 4runner axles have coil perches on them. We have leaf perches. I'd rather not cut them off and weld on new ones.

    The elocker offers another advantage in my book. This, its OEM. Parts will always be available.

    A lockrite in the back is not that bad. Mine makes a lot of noise though. You can actually feel it as well. I have had the back of the truck pass the front a few times but I think that was mostly due to the narrow 10.50 tires I had on at the time. Once I went to 12.50 tires it never happened again. In ice and compact snow they will get me unless I air down to about 6 psi. That is mostly due to the fact that I have a lockrite up front as well. So they are working against each other. In the powder though its a whole other story. On the trail you cannot beat it. I personally have a hate of anything ARB. I don't think I would ever run or own anything they make.

    If you run a thicker gear oil it reduces the noise

    I have run Amsoil, RedLine and Mobil1 full syn and change it every 6000 miles. Have had them in for about 60,000 miles have been noisy from day 1. it does not bother me, I kinda like it. The noise lets me know its working.

    I dont really know but gear oil last forever. Especially synthetic.
