Anyone have any suggestions for leaving factory overload leaf in?

I ordered and received 5100s for the front and Wheeler's 3 leaf 1.5" pack.

I was planning on doing the fronts at 2.5" (and hoping for the best), but with the rear I'm not sure whether I'll want to leave my factory overload in. I have a camper shell and don't foresee ever taking it off. I'm looking to get things as level as possible, or the rear a tiny bit higher than the front.

Thing that sucks, is that if I set the fronts to 2.5" and it rides super shitty or is unalignable, I'll have to drop it down a notch to 1.75... it seems like just adding the 1.5" AAL (from threads with no mention of overload) and fronts at 1.75 will leave the rear much higher, and higher still if I leave that overload in. I'm not sure how much the camper shell lowers the rear :|

Eh, that was hard to explain - so if it didn't make sense..

If you had a regular cab with camper shell always on, wanting a level truck, would you remove the overload leaf, install wheelers 1.5" 3 leaf pack, set the bilstein fronts to 2.5", and expect it level like that? Because if I did have to lower fronts to 1.75" for alignment issues, I would at least be *closer* to level and possibly a tolerable amount of rake without an added .5" from overload.

I can lower the fronts myself, but the rear leafs I'd like to do right the first time ideally. Not many people mention the rear overload on regular cab lifts  So idunno if they removed or kept.

Merp. Finally can join in on this thread. Did fronts yesterday (had done them day before yesterday but we didn't do it quite right). Solo fronts with hand tools was pretty damn easy after learning how to do it the night before. Rears took maybe 3 hours combined, spent a lot of time using a dull hack saw trying to cut off factory leaf centering pin bolt cause I couldn't get a good grip on the circular thing on underside. Finally got it held tight enough with wire crimp/cut/strip tool of all things. Then had to use that same damn dull hack saw to cut off the excess on new centering pin bolts

Pretty much near level on perfectly level ground, I do have my camper shell on the back though and about 200 lbs between my new floor jack, stands, boards, old parts, and tools. Rides great, no noise or vibrations yet but I've only had it up to 50mph. Will get aligned tomorrow and take 'er on interstate. Bilstein 5100s up front, stock coils. Wheelers 3 leaf progressive with stock overload left on, stock shocks in rear (will upgrade soon but for now it rides fine? Guess I haven't tested to see if the shocks are at their limit with this).

Alright, so I got my alignment today.

Cheapo setup: 5100's up front at 2.5" on stock coils, Wheelers 3 leaf progressive AAL on rear with stock shocks, overload leaf left on.

    alignment_zpsd1c0c793_4ec3b3f036f7cf0642275601790833569be0ed8e.jpg

Drives straight as an arrow. Feels fine on the road. No strange noises at any speed thus-far. No vibrations. Guess I lucked out

Helps while jumping, gives more up travel in front suspension so you don't bottom out on everything, keeps front end lighter in sand for the rear weight distribution while on the throttle, just to name a few.

Here is my '12 Taco, new tires and rims. 5 lugger and wanting to wait til I can afford a desert-style lift due to reports I'm reading about control arm issues from 5 lug Ready Lifts...any suggestions!
You all have some sharp trucks! The regular cab is by far the toughest/sharpest looking Taco there is! Side question, the Tacoma emblems, are they held on by adhesive or bolted on?

^^^ Hey Bullwinkle, thanks! Weather's warming up so I'll get out and get it off. I want to do the 'Toy Taco' and prime and paint it flat black. BTW, I enjoyed your seat mod thread. You're right about the seats, I had to get the same type supports for my low back. Anyway, thanks for the response!
