Can we agree that most the public has a total disregard for the laws they don't wanna obey? Will a ticket for speeding prevent a speeder from speeding? Maybe for a half mile, will a ticket for texting prevent a person from using their phone? Maybe during the contact but not after.

The more LEO and laws that get involved the more the haters are going to scream POLICE STATE!!! FUCK THE POLICE!

Its a vicious cycle, and the responsibility is with the public...as irresponsible as a lot of the public is.

Commercials that are shown in foreign countries need to be shown here, the public needs to educated by real scenarios, real situations, real fatalities. Tickets don't educate people, they don't care, they drive anyway.

I understand any law enforcement agency has limits.

my point was, the texting while driving should be a law enforcement issue...not a cell phone maufacturer issue.

It is now, because the public is too irresponsible to make it their own issue.

Kinda off topic but how are you handling the "high" in CO? I've heard everything from treating medicinal like Advil to blood test and DUI. Sounds like a mess!

I'm sorry, but nobody has anything important enough to say to justify texting while driving. It's all the mindless drivel of idiots who think that everyone needs to know every detail of their so-called lives.

Yes it's a sore point with me, and no I have not lost anyone to it - I just see it nearly every day driving to and from work. If one of these morons ever hit me, they will have more to worry about than just a damaged vehicle.

The Tennessee highway patrol are getting creative with this law. They either bought or borrowed a semi and are using it to catch ppl texting and driving. Looking from above and sending the message to chase cars. Very creative and I would say if other states get wind of it, they will do the same. As far as texting and driving, I don't do it and won't. Too damn dangerous!

We treat high on drugs like a DUI, but they don't have a choice between blood or breath, we choose blood for them. Delta 9 THC moves through the body extremely fast so out investigation has to be fast, especially if they were smoking just prior to driving or while driving.

Drugs impair your mental and physical ability to drive a car, no questions asked. If we can show that they were even impaired to the slightest degree, we can at least get DWAI.

The problem with blocking signals in a car is that means then the passenger can't use their phone either.

    Agree'd.

I was rear ended at 100 KMPH in my Dad's FJ by a lady who was texting and didn't see me stopped at the red light. Worst part was the ladies 3 year old daughter cracked her sternum on the seat belt and had bruises all over her head. The lady smashed her head into the steering wheel and I think had a panic induced heart attack (she was heavily over weight). I had severe concussions and tissue damage in my back, it bloody well sucked as I couldn't do anything for 2 months in the summer.

I have zero sympathy for people who still text and drive.

It pisses me off when my gf texts while driving, I don't want her to get hurt or hurt someone else.

Generally I don't use the phone at all while driving. Hey, I have a manual transmission, its a built in excuse to not be able to! I simply have no available limbs to use it.

At a red light or somesuch, I'll check ones that came in while moving, but I will NOT type or text or compose or whatever you want to call it while the truck is in motion.

It is not safe, and it is a disservice to everyone else on the road...even though most of THEM *are* doing it.

    Short answer: yes.

Its been proven time and again. Hell, MythBusters did an episode on it, FFS!

I'd rather drive through an army of functional alkys and wake-n-bakers than a similar number of cell users.
