I'm sure someone has. That's one of the weakest parts of the frame.

    Well....

A girl I work with - her SON has a 99 and the frame broke through.

I don't know exactly where it broke but they had it towed to Toyota and he got $11.500 for it under the frame rust warrantee deal.

Yep, that is exactly where mine rusted bad. I welded mine so it wouldn't break through and to pass state inspection. There are a lot of guys over at CT that have had theirs bought back also.

my toyota dealer told me that it wouldnt be bought back because the buyback only covers welds

but i know they are liars and lie to me all the time, next week im taking out a personal add in the paper to open awareness to the public

ie: they "cant" tell me what kind of transmission filter i need because i have to get it flushed rather than dropping the pan (a 1st gen) and refuse to tell unless i let them flush it

that the frame recall will not be upheld at that dealership

any other toyota recall is not accepted at that dealership

    and many more

You don't have a tranny filter I don't think. IIRC it's just a screen that you can rinse the crap off of and just replace the screen afterwards.

1999Tacoma i live in St. Albans, WV and they dump tons of salt on the roads here in the winter. My local toyota dealer had hundreds of toys they bought back due to frame rust. There would be about 50 at a time lined up before they would send them off to get crushed. It made me cry everytime i drove by but peope did get ridicous amounts for their trade ins. So your truck prolly did come from here.

    getting there....
drop the pan....remove the "filter" and spray it really good with brake cleaner....then put back in. you dont have to replace it.

    dealerships are dipshits.
