Kind of depends on where you're at. Some states require you to stay right unless passing and in other places it's just a recommendation. In those states, If you're going faster than other traffic then it's perfectly fine to stay there. I'll often drive in the #1 lane until I see someone closing the gap behind me then I'll move over for them to get by.

Oh yeah, I'm betting on electrical with the rain. Could be that something got wet enough to cause the problem then dried enough to stop. Will be lurking to find out what if any answer the dealer can give you OP.

the left lane may be the passing lane in your local in town highway...but, on the interstate...

the left lane = get in it...get on it...get going...or get out heck of the way...

may not be the law, but it is the reality.

Why were you doing a video at 70 MPH? Oh maybe you could not see to text the light wasn't good enough. Water at the last fill up unless you just want to blame Toyota.

Damn, there certainly seems to be a lot of back seat drivers in this post. OP is having trouble with his truck. Just help a brother out. I think some people had their feelings hurt because his Tacoma malfunctioned.

Reading through this made me laugh, but I'm confused is this about breaking down, speed limit, dealership covering, or which lane I should be in at a certain speed. OP hope you resolve this issue.

Drive it like you stole it in any lane you like. It's all fun and games till the long arm of the law stops you. :D

OP, good luck. Sounds like electrical gremlins showed themselves in the rain. Electrical problems suck.
The rest of this thread is a dump.

I'm sure it's something simple, I put 25K mi on my truck every year including several 2k trips. Zero issues. Probably just wind drag from being too close to the center divider.

    RESULTS

took it in to the toyota dealer today.. after 4 hours of waiting i got some results. They said it was water in the gas (surprise surprise). It threw a misfire code and a few other codes based on the stalling of the motor. It shut down after detecting the misfire codes to protect the engine. They ran a few other checks to make sure everything is ok and nothing was harmed. It still runs and drives like new so i guess this situation is in the past now (documented with toyota incase it happens again).

i asked them to replace the fuel filter but apparently it is not replaceable... they said it was in the fuel pump assembly so i told them not to bother. i think it'll be fine.

Good to hear that it was something simple and no major harm was done. Note that shatty gas station so you'll know not to stop there next time.
