Long Travel BS Thread

Tim is working on a bolt in kit! I was at his shop last week and talked to him about it for over a hour! He even thinks it can be done in stages to save a few $$ (well will cost a little more in the long run but you don't have to do everything at once) that's huge when trying to convince the wife. Somehow splitting te payments doesn't hurt as bad.
I'm going to go with the weld in kit since I'm local but it's a great option if your not a great welder or have a local shop you trust.

 

I don't understand why it can't be tuned for a 16'' bypass.


I'm still leaning towards the kit because I hear it is stiff and I will have more weight than usual in the bed (large bed cage, tool box, air compressor, winch mounted behind the axle, plate bumper, and full size spare on 24/7; roof top tent and camping gear some of the time).

 

Different lengths between the tube locations. Your's riding in the middle the entire time.

It may be able to be tuned, but it's going to take a lot of testing.

 

So with my hoops and 12's would I have better luck than you guys running 16's?

 

Gobs of travel. Stock driveshaft ? How's the ride height ?

the kit is a huge improvement over stock leafs....i just need a little more to keep up with the front....will likely save up for dmz kit or 50t and then sell the defined kit and shackle brace.

 

20" metal to metal ,Yes stock driveshaft. Ride height is the same as my all pro standard leaf pack (2.5" or so).

Edit: 4wd models already have a slip yolk otherwise i would need to add one.

Is the 2nd truck the DMZ kit? It looked a lot smoother.

 

The 2nd Gen Tacoma would be the one with the DMZ kit

 

The 1st truck is a 2nd gen DMZ. The 2nd truck is a pre-tacoma I beamed with 64" kit Giant built truck.

 

I didn't think DMZ had their kit ready yet?

Mark's had the kit for quite some time, I know the TSA Class 7 Tacoma was built in 08' and had the DMZ kit installed, and I'm pretty sure it was around before that too

 

Ok, I thought by DMZ kit people were referring to a bolt in kit that DMZ was developing....thought I read that here.

What leafs does their kit consist of?

 

I can vouch for kcbmx, giant kit looks awesome

 

I'm assuming that the Bolt Kit will be almost the same geometry as the weld-on kit but I can't be certain. It's yet to be released.

I'm pretty sure it is a custom Deaver pack made for their kit
