Wheeling w/o 4X4

I've been on the site now for a while and have read through TONS of threads but haven't seen any relating to this topic....

I'm in the market to buy a taco this coming summer but don't have a lot of cash ~$14k. What would be ideal is a 05+ DC (long or short bed) with 4X4 with under 130k miles but I just don't seem to be able to find that in my area so here's my question:

As someone who wants to play in the mud a little but really use the truck as a daily driver, should I be holding out for the 4x4 or is a prerunner going to have enough ability off road to still be fun for now?

 

If you plan on going off road get the 4x4. I didn't and now wish I did. I've gone off road plenty of times but got stuck once and spent 3 hours recovering my truck. If I had 4x4 I wouldn't have had to turn around and wouldn't have gotten stuck.

 

Definitely 4x4. You'll never regret it.

 

with that budget you could get a nice double cab 1st gen 4x4, just saying.

 

Nothing in particular against the 1st gens but senes I'm buying the truck to upgrade off my 98 corolla for something "new" I want at least an 05 or newer... Just not gonna feel new to me otherwise

 

That's basically what I wanted to know... I'm not a complete novice so I know 2wd will get stuck easier but ya....

 

they make 4 wheel drive now...
