The only place I have found to cook food is under the intake manifold. Are there any other places you have found that work well to cook up some trail side snacks?

I've always been meaning to make a basket for somewhere under the hood, just haven't gotten around to it. I think a good spot would be a basket attached to a fender, but have it go over a header.

You should watch the episode of Mythbusters from this last season where they have a chef on there and attempt to cook an entire thanksgiving meal under the hood of an old cadillac. Might give you some good ideas for sure.

I never thought anyone would ever ask that question but, there you go! :) I can probably come up with the exact episode if you are interested.

You could just buy a small camping stove and carry it with you.

I don't know about fully 'cooking' something.... but we used to put stuff on our Jeep to heat it up.

Just prior to a day of offroading....we'd take Hot Pockets (thawed) and wrap them in two layers of foil and put them onto the engine near the manifold. By the time we stopped for lunch, they'd be warmed up. Not hot....but a nice warmed lunch.

Two layers of foil because we found the 'vibration' and/or hot spots would put holes in the foil and your food would taste like....and/or smell like..engine. LOL

"Manifold burritos" were a mainstay when I had my '81 4x4, but we never tried cooking from scratch that way.

Ive seen where someone welded a "pizza rack" on to the underside of their hood so they could cook/heat up pizza on the trail. It was on an old yota pickup iirc.

That would be awesome if could find it.

Where's the fun in that? :)
