I'm gonna get back into running..

It's sad when you are an All-State selection in high school, with some D1 offers. Then came the military and now I'm slow.. lol

    2009 800m - 1:53.04
    2009 1600m - 4:18.34

    2013 800m - 2:13.41....
    2013 1600m - 6:21.10....

Lead-off in the 4x800m and we were ranked 6th in the nation out of all high schools my senior year in 2009, got 2nd in the state finals because of Glenville, if anyone follows NCAA football, that's where Ted Ginn Jr. is from, they consistently put out world speed athletes. BUT we lost by the length of a baton, after our anchor ran a 1:48 split to catch back up. Easily the most emotionally charged race I've ever been apart of..

If anyone really wants to see the next track stars, I'd recommend watching the D1 Ohio High School state meet. It's at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, draws 20-25,000 people each year and is broadcast on FloTrac.org

Yeah, you did. I got it on my phone, but my new phone is the S3. It's big, and nodody yet makes a "runner/cycling" pouch for it.

    I'm still using dailymile!

Running in this COLD weather has been HARD! Barely ran 15 miles last week, and so far this one is not getting better...

On Saturday I went for my long run weather be darned, and it was just a mudfest. I love mud when I'm wheeling, but not when I'm running!

I use MapMyRide for biking/running and it never tracks the correct mileage. I will always be a mile or two less that what other people with me are showing on their apps.

finished our Joshua Tree NP run and I'm not going to sugar coat it- it was really tough, the combination of heat (heat for me anyways), tough surface- lots of loose sand, lots more climbing than I was expecting and the distance-38 miles- just about did me in

suffered terrible calve cramps, nausea and nearly ran out of water

the first half was great, made it to our water stash in under 4 hours; the next half was really rough and took 6.5 hours

but it's all good now and we're already planning our next adventure :D

^Looks like fun, im jealous. My right knee is really unhappy. One week off and went out to run got just over 2 miles and it started to act up. SHIT ! Dont know what im gonna do. I think its the lateral colateral (SP) tendon, just below the knee cap to the right side. Only hurt when I run, not walking, hiking or cycling.

The last two weeks of Feb were so darned cold, that I barely ran over 15 miles. No more, this week is looking like a 25er mile week! Loving the spring weather!

Anyone recommend a heart rate/distance/speed type monitor? My girlfriend is into running and I'm thinking about getting her something like that.

^ Garmin makes the most accurate/user friendly monitors.

can't offer any real help as I don't own one, but have talked to countless runner's that do and they almost always offer up Garmin as the way to go

I ran 29.45 Miles last week. Although only one of those runs could be considered a tempo one, I think it is safe to say that I'm beginning to turn the corner for this altitude!

Here is for a minimum of 35 miles this week!

PS: I kinda realized that I had not used my compression socks at all for my post runs. I did used them twice last week, with more to come! ;)

my running has been less than stellar of late, after our Joshua Tree run I purposely cut back miles to recover- definitely a wise move

what I didn't figure in was that I would catch my second flu of the year (and that's with a flu shot!!!!!) that wiped me out for a full week- needless to say w/ the exception of my 38 mile run in the beginning of the month, the rest looks pretty anemic, fortunately I've bounced back from the flu and am starting to once again rack up some miles :)

28.2 miles this week (5.3/6.5/11/5.4)- my last two runs the temps were in the upper teens (w/ 15mph+ winds!)- so much for Spring

should be back into the 30's this next week

I just stumbled across this thread. Very cool to see that this is here. I have 12 marathons and 6 half marathons under my belt along with several 5k's and fund raiser fun runs. My best time in the the full was 3:50. I actually stopped running because I got bored with it. After over a year off though I want to start again and train for an Ultra some time next year and this thread looks like the motivation I need to get going again. Looking forward to reading other runners experiences so keepm comin.

    ^Welcome Augie!

I barely ran 20 miles last week. I meant to be over 30, but we got a TON of snow during the weekend.

Gosh, I want SPRING to start!

    anyone on Dailymile on here?

    http://www.dailymile.com/people/VictorC

I use it as a running log for myself.

I was running quite a bit a couple of years ago but got injured and am slowly trying to build back up.

I have ran a marathon (San Diego Marathon) back in 2007

    A couple 20k hill runs, 10k's and 5k's.

I'm trying to get back to it so we'll see how it goes.
