I somehow managed to rip rack & pinion boot. And of course I just had an alignment done last friday. What are my chances of replacing the boot without needing another alignment?

Ive been doing some reading and I think Im def going to need another alignment after I change the bellow boot. What a pain in the ass. I should prob. check the driver side boot and change that one if it looks beat up.

That sucks about your lower bj's! The worst part is I work 12+ hour shifts all week. So I got order the boot, fix it Saturday morning and get an alignment Saturday as well. I got to call the shop to make sure I can get in to get an alignment Saturday.
It's my busy season at work.

Well RockAuto told me 5 days to get the boot. I found a kinda local import shop http://awautoparts.us/ and they will have them in by 1pm today. I ordered both since Im sure ill need to do the driver side as well.

I also talked to the tire shop (where I bought my TSRs and got mounted & balanced) He said he will fix my toe no cost. Thats why it pays to deal locally.

You have any rubbing with those 285's? Did you trim and beat?

I have zero rubbing so far on daily driving. That includes backing up and and getting into and out of my driveway. But there is some rubbing up front at the pinch weld. I plan to do some trimming in the next few weeks.

But overall, I am surprised with the lack of rubbing. I thought there would be much more.

You thinking about some 285s?

I had 285/70/17's and they had to be run with 1.25" spacers and even then they rubbed when turning, and turning and backing. I didn't think that going from 17" to 16" would make that much difference thats why I went to 265's. I gave little thought to the BS though at that time. My old tundy sports were 4.5" BS I think, whereas the F5's I have now are 4"....same as yours. I may go to 285's on my next set after seeing how yours looks. I have already trimmed and beat my DS into submission but haven't done the PS yet. Your rig looks real clean man. I love the tripple black.

I've got 3.75" backspacing with my 15's and my 12.5" wide tires don't rub anything but the mud flaps.

@taco47001. Thanks! i was looking through your pictures, your truck looks great! I love toppers on 4-door Tacomas.
Are you running a swaybar? I still run mine (at the moment). But I'm thinking with the stiffer 883 coils, I may remove it.

I def. think the 4"bs helps avoid some daily drive rubbing. And the 3.75bs you have Brent is probably the ideal bs.

I have to admit... When I first saw my 285's stacked up at the tire shop, I thought they would NEVER fit.

Did the rear diff breather mod this morning. Took about a 1/2 hour. And only cost about $23.

Where did you get the bellow boots from? I have a hole in one so I will be replacing outer tie rods an bellow boots.
