Headache rack aka "the bat-rack"

I posted this on the TW facebook page, but I thought I'd post a few more pictures of the build here. I can't take credit for all of the welds, my friend did most of the welding for me

Getting the mounting plates water-jetted:

Now I gotta lift it and get some bigger shoes so the rest of the truck can match the beefy rack haha

 

Wow, that thing looks awesome. I have been meaning to build one myself forever, basically the same design just not as fancy. That thing looks clean and functional though.

I'm gunna be strapping our SAE baja car to it and driving up to Bellingham, WA, so that should give me a pretty good idea of how solid it is

That's a good looking rack! What gauge and size is the expanded metal mesh? I am thinking about making somthing very close to what you have. Very good looking.

Thank you. I have led strips under the bed rails which are bright enough for now, but i'm thinking of adding some small led spotlights later on. I'd like to find a way to add them without welding anything on and ruining the powder coating, but we'll see. I haven't put that much thought into it yet

 

Nice rack Def need to see more of these on taco's. You have some welding skills that far surpass my own, that thing is legit

If mine was made like the OP`s I would need to keep the window open all the time .

It would be broken the first time I put something in the back.

It does look pretty although I have no idea what a Bat Rack is unless your hauling baseball bats.

The "Bat Rack" is just a play on words because the "ears" on top make it look like batman
