My truck runs with the back tires and when it gets stuck the stucked wheel spins when the other one should be moving to get me out and I'm under the impression that with a manual lock differential I could make both wheels run when stuck. :)

You are talking about a Locking Differential. There are automatic lockers such as the aussie and detroit, or select-able such as the ARB air locker and electronic E-locker found stock on TRD offroad models. There is no such thing as a manual lock diff though, at least not for the tacoma.

For maximum street comfort you can't beat the select-able lockers but they're expensive. Many have had good luck with brands like lockright for the auto lockers.

I run Lock-rights front and rear.
I have had great success with them.
