    Hi Guys.

Just signed the paperwork yesterday for my new Taco. This is the truck I've wanted for the past couple years while in graduate school and now that I'm finally out and employed, it was time to make it happen. Will be taking delivery in 1-2 weeks depending on how long it takes the dealer to order/receive/install some of my accessories. Here are the vital stats:

2009 Double Cab V6 Short Bed
    5 Speed Automatic, 4WD
    Speedway Blue Metallic

    TRD Offroad Package
    TRD Cold Air Intake
    TRD Cat Back Exhaust
    TRD Big Brake Package
    V6 Tow Package
    Interior Lights
    Chrome Tube Steps

    I have one primary question:

    1) This trucks main purpose will be offroad crawling getting me to/from rock climbing/mountaineering locations and as a bad weather transport. I understand cold air intake is somewhat vulnerable to water crossings in offroad situations - can someone give more details regarding this? Does the CAI have to actually be submerged or what? That's obviously no good on any intake. Is there more to it? What's the mechanism for "injury"? I want to keep the CAI to complement the exhaust system.

I don't *usually* encounter water deeper than 12 to 18", but in the event of an unexpected situation, I'd like to know what to be aware of.

    Thanks in advance.

    - J

P.S. - I'm also looking to mount a winch on the front of this bitch in the event that I encounter anything truly gnarly. How does winch mounting affect warranty status? Anyone know?

The big brake package is new for '09 on non-Xrunner models as I understand it. You can read about it in the bottom paragraph of page 4 of this PDF:

    Description:

Essentially, stopping power. Of course, now that I've sprung for all this I've discovered through this wonderful site the rear leaf TSB issue that may or may not apply to me...

    Dude...you really are f**kin' crazy...

    Anyway, welcome to TW!
The CAI is under the hood, there's not much else to it. It doesn't go down towards the bottom of the bumper like most cars would so you shouldn't have to worry much about hydrolocking...I've never seen a case of it on here and we've got quite a few CAI's that forge rivers.

AND I want pics of your truck!!! If you'd gotten the Sport then your truck would be the one I will own. Don't forget to post pics in the SWB thread! ;)

Don't you fucking DARE make me take you into the back of Wocko's hut bitch! I WILL come over there, and I WILL nuke your ass from orbit...it's the only way to be sure.

+ Don't worry all, there will be pics when I take delivery here in the next week or so. Mods will occur...diff breather relocations will be right off the bat (how does that affect warranty, by the way?), and a bullbar and HIDs are in the near future.

I will eat an entire 2 pound package of pistachios and take a semi green shit on your chest.

I'd say how'd you like that, but I know you'll love it you kinky fuck you.

As for affecting warranty, I believe if anything goes wrong the dealership has to prove that it was your modification that caused the problem. I don't know if this is a state or national thing cause I'm a Canuck and thus from the land of no specific enemy. So take that with a grain of salt.

    And a big pistachio poop.
