It is both a blessing and a curse for this country that our citizens are able to stay so blissfully naive to the true price of our freedoms.

 

This is really disturbing how much the gene pool has been degraded! !! As a former US Marine it really ticks me off, There is a lot more I can think to say but had best not. Some of them could be illegal

fuck! I'm not in the military, but damn! Even I know who protects the right to be that stupid.

Then again, maybe it's not about the Marines... Maybe it's more to catch the attention of politicians pushing for wars we aren't winning.... Or at least ending. I mean, have we really accomplished anything over there? (I can't figure it out from watching the "news") Other than having young men and women leave and not come back.

 

OMG! Regardless of what you feel about the current war, how can you make a blanket statement that we do not need the military. Have these people ever taken a history class? In an ideal world that would be true but this is no ideal world by any stretch...

 

Of course we dont need the military Rhoppas. Didnt you hear the pink lady? she specifically said that if we didnt have weapons, we wouldnt have wars. Duh, i mean use your head rhoppas! She was perfectly clear when she said that the military is the reason we have wars, and the police are the reason we have crime. you can't argue with someone with her credentials, she's a hippie in a pink shirt. I think we should all petition the government to get rid of the Military and all the police so we can finally live in peace and harmony with all the unicorns and wood nymphs. Who's with me!!!

 

I think I would have to kill her just to GET some piece.....and quiet. Get rid of her annoying voice.

 

I support everyone's right to free speech, and to have their own opinions, but when I see a clip like that, I don't know what to think. As a Marine, I've been stationed a few places where we weren't the most popular guys around, but I've never seen anything like that, especially stateside. I don't see why they're so angry....No one is forced to join the Marine Corps. People who go to recruiter's offices, do so on their own free will. If you don't like the Marine Corps, don't join. I found it funny that on of the guys said that Berkley was being "occupied" by the Marines, and compared it to Iraq.

 

A friend of mine paid to send her daughter to Berkely and then complains about her constant Liberal BS.
What did she expect?

 

I have tried to write some hateful things about the ignorant Berkeley assholes but I can't get myself to do it! ! If I did, I would be like our NY Governor this week and fall into my own trap and shoot myself in the foot

yeah, i'm the same way, i'm all about free speach. but this goes above and beyond that. They are petitioning the state government to tell the federal government to keep their military out of their town. In the days of our founding fathers this type of behavior would be considered treason (im not being sarcastic) and they would have been tried as criminal. This is a free country. It may be a dumb idea to open a recruiting station in a town that probably only has 6 marine candidates, but there is no law against it. It may be a stupid idea for me to open a Confederate Flag shop in Harlem, but its techinacally legal. they have no right to DEMAND to not have a recruiting station in their area. And i agree with you, statements like "being occupied" and "weapons cause war" and "getting rid of police would stop crime" does nothing but show their own ignorance and close mindedness. They are bing closed minded and intolorant, which is the exact opposite of what they "claim" they stand for.

Seriously, my kids can go to school whereever they want, when they're 18 you cant stop them. But if they go some place like that, phone calls like, "dad, i cant afford to eat, can you send me some money?" will just be answered with a laugh and a "click"

My first duty station was Travis AFB, CA in 1985, and during the inprocessing brief I was informed/told/ordered not to go to Berkeley in uniform and if I went in civilian cloths I had to go with 2 or more people. I recieved the same brief everytime I went overseas (even Canada, Happy Vally Goose Bay baby).

 

I don't want to be angry right now so I'll post something with a little since. After 9/11 we and OUR country have changed. Changed so much! A lot of you don't know and don't see it. You may not WANT to know or see the changes, BUT we have. In other countries, mexico, central americas, south america and many a whole lot further, you not only see the police on the streets but you have military check points thru out. We all see it on TV. Now we are not at that point just yet but believe me we will be soon. Why you may ask? Because we are human. Weapons/GUNS don't kill people. People kill people!! People make a living from these items, it's their jobs! I don't fault them for making money and having a life, it's the AMERICAN DREAM. Terror is a crime. Terror is not just in WAR or battle, it's on our streets every day here and everywhere else! You punish the carjacker or bank robber the same way you would a terrorist from afghanistan, and you would stop violence! Why? Because they are the same! The owner of the car being jacked is terrorized during the ordeal, same as any person in the bank while getting robbed. Another way to stop all of this violence would be to start at our prisons. Let us say that a certain prison holds 1000 inmates and that's it. We let the first inmate know that when it reaches 1000 he is put to death. He will only have 999 more friends to meet. One goes in and one goes down! The problems we have here are minor, now don't get me wrong, they are big problems VERY big, but minor compared to other countries. Right now the biggest change, that I know of, has been airport security. That my fellow Tacoma owners was the first CHANGE in the MANY to come!! If a mexican, (my parents, brother and sister are from Mexico) with no money can cross our border from the south every day of the year with no problems, just imagine what a well funded terrorist could do thru the same border!! History repeats itself. All GREAT nations will fall. Ours is next!! Now WE may not see it happen and our sons and daughters may not either, but trust me it will if we VOTE the wrong people into power. Our military is the smartest, fastest, most powerful and most capable military in the WORLD! All for nothing with the wrong command. Those pink ladies can say all they want, they HAVE that right, but not for long if we let people like them run this great nation. Too make many hours of brain storming short, just arrest them for disturbance or fine them, anything would do, just make them go. God love them because I sure in hells don't!

i agree with you but i've made my feelings clear already and didnt feel the need to keep hammering them in. If America continues on this path she wont last long. I will say this though.... you mentioned America changing after 9/11. one thing i've noticed is that aside from shit holes like Berkely, the American public has gotten alot more appreciative of its troops. Even people who oppose the war still support the troops. they realize that its not the troops that started the war and they aren't there to have a good time or eat babies. it is nice to see the soldiers have teh support of the majority of americans
