yep, the last yote I shot was with a 7mm08 at about 120 yards at a trot. I was using 120gr federal soft points. Small entry hole, massive damage on the exit.

now back on topic with AR's!

Well decided to just bite the bullet and get the Eotech. I will just wait for the magnifier. It's sweet.

I'm personally not fond of the Eotech, and frankly unless you're pounding the hell out of a sight by throwing your rifle off buildings and running over it daily, the Primary Arms microdot performs just as good as my Aimpoint.

I saw that and was really considering but the only one instock needed an upgraded magnifier so in the end with shipping you were still paying an extra $100

Be careful with those Jard triggers. They can be sprung way too light for use in anything but benchrest competition.

Whisper light triggers have their place, but in an AR platform that could see multiple use, Jard would not be my first choice.

I have seen a couple people say the same. Luckily is the current setting I have is too light I am just change out the spring and change the pull force. This is going to be my hunting rifle.

Oh wow, please put the 5# spring in there. Hunting firearms that can be bumped and knocked about do not need those types of triggers.

Then you do not know how to shoot. They are usually more accurate than the shooter. The guy says at 70 yds is what his distance is. If it is over 300 yds. then yes I agree. Anything under 300 yds. an AK is accurate enough to kill whatever you can aim at.
I hate when people say stuff like this. Shoot one before you say stuff like this. Do not just regurgitate what you see on AR15.com.

I certainly wouldn't even put the Aimpoint in the same category as the cheaply made Chinese copy that Primary Arms sells...much less mention the two in the same sentence.

Sure, for $69 it (Primary Arms) may serve its purpose on a backyard plinker. However, I don't think you have to go to the extreme of throwing a rifle off of a building or running over it (daily) to see the value of a high quality sight that you may be trusting your life too.

    Just my $.02.

This isn't a hair trigger. I tested it out pretty good after I put it in. This thing isn't going to go off unless you pull the trigger. I slammed it pretty good on all sides to see if the trigger out slip and it didn't at all. Same for the safety. I put it through a lot making sure it was installed correctly and not a risk. I feel safe with taking it hunting. If a rifle goes off from a bump than it should not be allowed to be used by anyone. The only test I did not do was throw it out of a 25' tree stand.

Speaking from experience an "average" AK47 type rifle, being shot in semi-auto, is going to shoot a 100 meter group of 4" to 6" with average ammo. An "average" AR15 is going to shoot a 2" to 3" group at the same distance with "average" ammo.

A tricked out AR shooting match grade ammo is capable of sub-MOA precision in the hands of a sub-MOA shooter. There are very few AK style rifles that can shoot groups this tight. Even the Dragunov is not designed for sub-MOA performance.

In contrast the Army's venerable M24 was designed to be sub-MOA, if I remember correctly the specifications called for .5 to .6 MOA performance with 175 grain M118 ammunition.

So, if 4 to 6 inch groups are fine for your hunting needs...then an AK's accuracy is suitable. However, the ballistics of the 7.62 x 39 round may not be the best hunting round out there, depending upon the game your hunting.

    Just my $.02.

You've never had a PA sight have you? I've ran one in a couple carbine classes. No shift, no breakage. Worked just fine. I'm moderately rough on optics on carbines, and have killed an EOTech before.

I always liked the "Trust your life to" argument when discussing sights. If you're using an AR for home defense, just the tube of whatever you have up there should be minute of criminal. If you're thinking of taking a pot shot of anyone in open space, you're setting yourself up for a nice stay at the Hard Bar Inn.
If you're using your rifle for some sort of duty use, by all means go for the Aimpoint. It has a few features that are very nice for doorkickers.

I have had Aimpoints, PA, Docter, Trij's, all kind of RDS. Don't let the price fool ya, the PA stuff is a pretty darn sight for general use. I bet it would stand up to being ran over too, just haven't tried it. The only complaint I have about PA is their battery life.

I've not personally shot one...nor do I plan to. However, I did have a student bring one to a 2-day intermediate carbine class and it did not last. If I remember correctly, it broke on one of the ground shooting exercises...I think when he was moving semi-aggressively behind a vehicle and setting up behind the tire. Not sure what happened to it, but he had to take his sight off and proceed with iron sights for the rest of the class.

As I indicated...great for plinking but, in my opinion it does not belong on a fighting rifle.

I've seen some of those Jards set so light that you can sneeze in their general vicinity and they will trip.

Just not a FGC that needs extra attention and consideration.

Lol no this one is not anywhere close to that.

Jard also makes about a dozen different FCGs. This is their most basic two stage adjustable. They do have a few match triggers that I'm sure are touchy

So.. you have no clue what happened to it, etc. Could it have been his battery died? You can be rough on the things, this guy here tosses one around pretty good.
