they are the normal toyota ones you can order, i just went though and cut out the name before i put them on so that the paint shows through... turned out really nice.

yup.. got several on there that are pretty hidden. regular firefighters are allowed to run a single dash light on the way to the station, i however have acouple more, being an officer i sometimes wind up going straight to the scene and dont want anyone smashing my truck.

Got yah! Yeah here in NV, they don't let emergency personnel run code in their POV's. I mean people show up on scene sometimes in their POV's but just no lights or sirens. I can see the pro's and con's of it though.

 

yea they dont allow sirens.. but according to the law you are allow two light heads on your personal vehicle.. and as far as our dept goes your only supposed to stop on scene if it is located on your way to the station... even then usually only officers do it..

 

Yeah same here. All the full-timers except for me have a city command truck. If it's something close to me I will usually go direct. Other then that, I just head down to the station to grab our rescue/cafs engine. How is your roster and responses of personnel? Ours out here is pretty bad when it comes to people actually showing up on calls. Kind of sucks because I can't even enjoy my days off without the pager going off and not having anyone respond.

 

we almost always get a truck out in 4-6 mins... but on week days it usually only consists of 3 people.. then usually have 2 or so more come shortly behind them. now on nights and weekends its a battle to get a spot on the first two trucks. just got back about an hour ago from a car fire threatening a structure. volvo burnt up about 3 ft. away from a wood structure doctors office.. managed to get two engines with a total of 6 personnel there. however today in particular we're doing good on EMS, got 3 medics and 2 emts hanging around.

 

Wow, thats awesome response times! I'm assuming you are a mixed department with full-time and volunteers?

 

nope.. 100% volunteer.. we've really stepped it up the last 2 years on getting our response time down.. evenings our average time out is 1.5 mins for the first engine.. we run afternoon/evening duty crews which consist of atleast 4 personnel.

Wow, you guys have a really nice looking fire house!! Nice looking rig too!! Lucky guys!!! Yeah our department is mixed with 4 full-time and the rest are paid-on-call. All of us work just day shifts so the stations not manned after hours.

 

yea the city "compensates" us by paying us 5 bucks for county calls and 7 bucks for city calls.. woooo. i figure after spending 12 hours straight on the interstate after a haz mat rollover that i was cheaper labor than foreign countries!

yea we built that station in 02', its alot bigger and nicer than we had originally planned however we got help paying for it from the government because it is the counties "disaster relief location" we have something like 30 data and phone lines in there and have to store like 150 cots and whatnot just in case.... the city is talking about combining the EMS and fire depts in which case we would have to make room for 5 ambulances and 2 more response vehicles somewhere.
