If I have the time, I clean it in small areas and put those small bathroom trash bags over the fuse block and alternator. Usually the hardest part to clean is the bottomside of the hood.

It's always a pain in my ass, it usually remains muddy.

Im following that thread like hawk!

I hope Tim can work some magic with the shipping. So much money to get it here to the East Coast.
I see Jerry shipped your bumper already. I can't wait to see the pics of it installed on your Tacoma!

You have a nice rig. I can't wait to see the rear bumper. I'm hoping also to get one of his bed racks.....modified and fit to mount on top of my topper. He's looking like mid to end summer to do the R&D......

That would be clean if he could put it low profile on the top of the topper. Are you thinking of doing an RTT?

After seing your truck, all I can say is - LADDER. If you get that swing out tailgate, get a ladder built on it.

or, keep the current tire carrier, and we can retro fit an Actuator to lower and raise it.

Current tire carrier is going with the rear bumper which is being sold this weekend. The swingout is in full effect! I did pick up some options on it like dual jerry can holder which can be removed, hi lift jack mount, side tubes. I didn't ask for a ladder because I'm not sure what I would need that for. I know I'm short as a mug but I can reach the top rack by standing on my sliders.

No, no RTT for me. I just want a load bearing rack on top. The "low profile" is really what I need as I only have 6.5" to still be able to fit in my garage. I'm pretty sure adam can accomplish that. I want to mount shovle and hi-lift to it and it will also let me use a hoist to lift the topper off by myself. I'm going to mount an elec. hoist on my garage ceiling for storage/ easy removal.

Dang! That's what I need. A hoist to lift my topper on and off. Only having a single car garage it would be nice to pull the topper off every now and then. I don't take it off for the reason I have no where to put it. I do have thule load bars, I wonder if they are strong enough to hold the weight of the topper. Don't want to risk it with having a wife and baby going in and out of the garage often. I'll keep an I out for your future rack!

My co worker has a big Sycamore tree in his yard with chains hanging down with rubber coated hooks at the end of the chains. He pulls his truck under it and puts the hooks under his topper. Then he uses a chain hoist to lift the topper off his truck. Makes it a 1 person job.

I can't wait to see BoxRockets creation on the back of your rig! Your gonna be the envy of the neighborhood!

Its nice when plan comes together. Just keep the pictures flowing.

If you have the height, do a pulley system and you can park a car under it. If you anchor the pulleys into overhead rafters or beams with good lag bolts it will be plenty strong and safe enough, use hooks to hold the cab. ;)

This is what I pondered first...

The load bars you have should be able to take the load...it's all about how they are attached to the topper. If just by a couple bolts and washers...I'd say that's pretty sketch and I don't blame you not wanting have wife and kids walking under it. If you could come up with a large plate to reinforce the inside mounting point....I'm sure the fiberglass could handle that.

It was either an offroad magazine issue I saw this in, or an Issue of The Family Handyman, but people have done it. Don't lift by the rack or bars if you don't have to. Lift it up under the seating edge, so you'd have to lift it slightly by hand to place the hook under each corner, but it would be the most secure.
