I jacked both of mine up on a swim team once upon a time, rotator cuff injuries suck. Funds for trips (gas) are very limited this year due to my wife going back to school full time - working on her teaching cert. Summer should be much better for getting out. Less $ spent on tuition and more on fun!

Travis, who did you get your steel through? Valley steel and wire? If so, who did you talk to?

I was at the gas station (Arapahoes & Peoria) on my lunch, and there where 7 tacos in the lot it was a good moment. I don't think the Honda felt welcome :D.

Just a thought...... Small lightweight bracket from the bed rail, then 2 eye bolts and a ratchet strap. May not be professional grade, but its simple. I'm looking at something like this to go with my topper and a bed rack

I'm feeling a lot of jealousy for those in Moab right now...lol

I'd be there too if my spring break fell on EJS. Used to in high school...was last week for me in college.

i want to mount a fullsize vertically in the right rear corner of the bed. as close to the bed rail as possible. but what im stuck on is how to make it strong... there is only like 2 out there for retail and they arent big enough for 285s. my original plan was a plate bolted to through the bed, with a 2x2 square welded vertically and bolted to the bed rail somehow. then the hub protruding out from the 2x2. but i was lookin at my bed and bed rail today.... pretty freakin thin. i can move my bed rail easily by hand, let alone a 70pd wheel/tire hangin against it. now im pondering making something like this....

    http://www.tiregate.com/shop/bed-mount-4-way-tirestrap/

thats just not worth 200 bones^
but im just not sure how well the tire would stay there side to side? open to ideas man, need to get the spare in the bed.

lol so good last night u want recipe?

i hear ya.... i thought about that too... but the bed rail is making me nervous to rely on for strength

yeah cool company, they have a great rep from what ive been reading.. but damn expensive. im thinkin of getting a 2 inch wide strap then 2 chains approx. 1.5 ft long. attach 4 anchors in the corner of the bed, chains to the anchors and the strap over the tire to the chains.... i think it would work:confused:

the idea i'm kinda running with at the moment is to use the stock tie down cleat in the corner of the bed for one end of the strap, but i still will have to figure out where the other end with attach to....

yea...any benefits or you think the greaseable shackle bolts would only really benefit with poly bushings?
