Well I own an ak, 2 ar's as well as several hunting rifles and shotguns. Tho I may not be a sniper or have several thousand rounds down range I do have a tendency of killing what I shoot at. 70 yards I would feel comfortable making a kill shot on a deer but 150+ I would not. And I do doubt that you would be making kill shots on anything out to 300 yards. You don't get more than one shot at most animals, so the first one better count.

But thank you for remarking on my post with your preconceived notation of my experience.

I usually read your posts and gain information but you might want to relax before blasting someone that you have never met and no nothing about:cool:

Unless his spare batteries were dead...it was not the batteries. Other than that you are correct...I had and still have no idea what happened to it, other than "stopped working".

I would and have shot and killed hogs out to 200 yds with an ak and will do it again. Granted it is not and never will be a sub or even a 1-2 MOA gun but a 3 moa gun works just fine at 200 yds.
I am sorry I blasted you, but I get tired of hearing that an AK is an inaccurate gun. It is no tack driver, but in the distance the OP said his grandfather would be shooting it would do well in that area. As a hunter that uses primarily an AK I can say it does well.

Starting off with hunting rifles and shotguns I tend to not view "tactical" rifles as hunting weapons even tho I have been taking out beavers lately with my AR.

With my hunting I tend to make shoots 150yds +. So I prefer a bolt gun that can shoot 1 moa which takes some of the operator error out of the equation

when buying equipment that even has a slight chance at being something you use to defend your life with, ask yourself one question; how much is your life worth?

As far as AK accuracy, my buddy put a Tecsight rear sight on his ROMAK and sure as shit it groups like a Government Colt. With Tula it puts up three inch groups. He also has an RPK that runs about the same.

With that oversized optic I consider it a hipster AR.

    I'd still shoot it.

if u want a true bushmaster go with the windham weaponry m4. the owner of bushmaster sold out to ruger and started up windham. mine has never failed...clean or dirty, snow rain or shine....it always fires just as accurate as every shot before.

Just got my M16 microsliked BCG in the mail from Tactical Toolbox, this thing is super slick and the coating has a dull gray color versus black. It fits in my BCM upper pretty tight, i cycled it a few times to make sure it worked, will have to report back next week once i take it out for a spin and add some pictures!

FYI for anyone who has an order in with RRA. I placed an order for a complete upper on 1/7/13, pretty basic A4 in 5.56. Anyhow, it shipped yesterday.

I had been reading about 6-12 month wait times on other forums.

Awesome. I ordered a LPK from them since they had it on their site. I ordered it beginning of jan. I cancelled it last week since it was still backordered.

May be worth giving this guy a call.. seems to have a good handle on what's in and out of stock: http://www.ar15sales.com/store/miscparts.html

I think I got my last LPK from Third Coast Armory, they're out of stock.
