Yep. But some states (Nevada for instance) require's proof of active insurance for you to register a vehicle. If you cancel your insurance after registration then your plates will pull up as an uninsured driver and can have your car towed away immediately.

 

here and most states you have to insurance(liability or full coverage) and the license plate or tag is part of the is all separate, and you have to get registrations, and renew it every year. and it’s also done by month. i got my truck in may so i have to a $30 fee to the county every may. and it just has to be done by the end of the month, and is good till the following year.

some states have inspections and you have to get that done as well. but we don’t have them here so i don’t know much about it.

if you are stopped in TN and don’t have up to date insurance you can get a ticket. and i think they can make you park the car/truck or tow it. but not 100% sure.

My truck insurance was $1500 and that's with a 40% discount

 

I think that might be every state as far as ticketing goes. I know you can pull up your registration card with your smart phone but some LEO's won't accept it.

$1500 annual or bi-annual? I pay about the same give or take $50 annually.

 

We have to have insurance , and the plate fee / registration with the Province is included in the cost

In BC , there is no private insurance for vehicles except for the optional portions , everything else is through a Provincial Corporation , ICBC ( Insurance Company of BC )

yeah. i keep mine card right behind my drivers license, no one els really drives my truck so i don’t have to worry about others driving it and being without it. and if someone was to steel it i hope them not having it will make the officer take longer on the stop and find out it’s stolen. also keeps someone that just brakes in from steeling my card.

 

edit: $1300 for basic coverage + $350 for my package policy (glass, replacement insurance, $2,000,000 liability, etc.) a year

 

I do the same, I keep my card in my wallet so I know I'll always have it and it's not in my truck. Even if stole with an insurance card I'm sure the LEO will be able to notice the mismatched names or the driver not matching the license photo.

 

No no thats not insurance thats just my registration. my insurance is $92 a month or $1100 a year

 

So you can't pick your insurance company? you have to go through ICBC?
