well, i bought my 2013 tacoma in october of last year, and got the viper alarm installed at the dealer, i recently moved in a house a few months ago, and now every friday my alarm goes off at about 3 in the morning and sometimes on a random day, always at night. well, common sense would prevail and say someone is trying to break into it (i also live in the middle of no where) but when i go outside with my gun, my flood light is not on, and i see nobody. could this possibly be an electrical issue? it's like clockwork at 3 am on fridays and no other time really except maybe another random night. i feel like a tool even asking if there could be a electrical issue because it seems obvious that it's someone breaking in, but as i said i never see anyone out there or a flood light on. (even my puppies set off the light). may be a good night to stake out in the bushes with a shotgun as it is a friday today.
p.s. i've already disconnected the battery and it still does it.

Check the sensitivity. The dealer could have made it more sensitive so anything could be setting it off, maybe it could be pets.

no, havnt tried not arming it yet, kind of paranoid it could be someone testing it to see if it doesnt go off to break into it & i dont think it's the sensitivity, if you bump it it goes "beep, beep, beep, beep," rapidly, and if you hit it hard it goes "BEEEEEP BEEEEEP BEEEEEP" (if that makes sense) at first it did the rapid beeps (first 4 times), and now it goes off full blast. and my dogs are always inside when it happens.

Are you in a flat, opened area? Does a lot of wind pass through your area?

yeah, i'm in southern AZ. it gets windy, but it's always dead calm at night. all signs point to someone breaking into it, except my flood lights never cut on, i've never caught someone running, and who would be dumb enough to try it like clock work?

Do you have shock sensor or motion sensor on your Viper alarm?

Oh ok. I have motion sensor aka proximity sensor and I found that you can't put any metal type material around it cause it breaks the beam and causes the alarm to go off in the middle of the night. It did that to mine cause my proximity sensor is under the arm rest and I store stuff in my arm rest like anyone would but I find that metal material is a no no with proximity sensor.

Negative Ghostrider the pattern is full. The proximity sensor is this:
    http://www.viper.com/P-508D/Invisibeam®-Field-Disturbance-Sensor

Most if not all alarm comes with shock sensor like it senses shock and the alarm chirps then goes off so like if someone with loud music or exhaust drives by and your alarm goes off its like that. Proximity sensor or motion sensor is when someone comes up to your window and the beam is interfered the alarm chirps. Proximity sensor is a add on with a price so I would find out what Viper alarm you had installed.

Dealer should have installed the Toyota RS-3xxxx system.

If you specifically requested a Viper, you need to ask them what model it is and get the manual for it.

I had a dealer installed Karr system (previous owner had it put in), it was a pos. It would sometime change sensitivity on its own, would go off randomly, it was shorted out a couple fuses. I have taken it all out and never looked back.

My viper alarm would do it randomly while it rained, or a windy day. I lowered the sensitivity level on the shock sensor a tad bit, and its till sensitive, but it doesn't go off for every little thing.

not that i know of, neighbors drive by all the time and i've never seen it do anything (and i'm parked 75M from a road too) i made some shotgun blanks so i guess i'll wait outside and see if it happens for the 5th friday in a row to find the real answer. i cant find shit on the alarm system, but i know it has atleast a shock sensor, i went shooting and a guy shot a high powered rifle with a muzzle brake and it made the alarm chirp 5 times. thanks for the help everyone

FYI those KARR alarms are installed typically by expeditors when the trucks come in off the boat (or up from wherever).

They are poor alarms. They are made with cheap components and are just crap. I paid a local DEI dealer (DEI owns Viper, Clifford, Polk, etc.) to remove it. I am buying a Viper 5704 w/ remote start and all in the next 2 weeks. I dont think i need an alarm since my truck is garaged, but the remote start will be real nice (shows the inside temp, so you know when its hot or cold) and an alarm can't hurt.

    Ditch KARR.
Here is mine ripped out, before I tossed it in the trash can.

FYI I also have the DEI 545T which does automatic head-lights on when it is dark, and auto off when it is light (like a BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, you name it). Very happy with it. Cool mod and cheap too.

My wife's RAV-4 has those from factory and she loves it.
They also have delay and stay on from 30-120 seconds (you can change the setting) after she shuts the engine off.
