ye the field grades and service grades are the cheapest shooters, ya can get a rack grade for less but itl be questionable as far as being able to safely fire, but yea your dad could just as easily order 1 or 2 with any type of mil i.d. or service record, but all ya need to proof of firearms related activity dont have to be LE or mil. and if i had the $ id already have more of em, cmp is gonna open up the sales for the IHC m1's sometime soon would love to order one when they do

I bought a rough rider as soon as I was 21. My first handgun purchase. I spent more time twirling it (with no ammo anywhere near it) than I ever did shooting it, lol.

This $139.98 revolver is freaking accurate out of the box! Good buy.

I looked at one of those when I was buying my shotgun a few months back. I found a bunch of varying responses on the recoil springs and potential feeding issues with using different loads. They are an awesome gun, just wasn't going to be a great first gun. I enjoyed researching it though, lots of history.

You got one of the older models with the round knob on the grip which is more desirable than the squared off knob. I saw two of these sell at an auction recently for $800 each. You did good as far as I can see.

I'm trying to decide between the Springfield mil-spec or the Range Officer. It's a $170 dollar difference:eek:

If you want a plinker/shooter/HD gun, the RO would be a better choice. If you want a gun like your grandad might have carried in WWII or a project gun to learn gunsmithing on, get the mil spec. I have a GI and it's gone through a fitted barrel, front and rear sight cuts, a new plunger spring tube, a beaver tail grip safety, new hammer, fitted barrel bushing, trigger job and lowered ejection port. I've learned a lot since i did most of it myself, but now I basically have a range officer.

I picked up another Dan Wesson last night. It pays to have a want ad up on a couple of different sites. If I were so inclined I could sell the two extra barrels for what I paid for the set. :)

I have some cleanup to do on this set. There are several blemishes in the stainless that need to be worked out. The barrels are 10", 8", and 6". This is a Dan Wesson 357 mag.

Thanks! I want to be able to make some improvements to the mil spec myself but after reading up on both of them all i've heard is good things about the RO.

Finally had the side folder stock show up for my Arsenal AK47 that I've been waiting on since sometime last year.
