I have been quoted $2416.49 OTD (including tax and a current $50 promotional coupon) for an ARE Z series cap with single 12 V interior light, tilt-down window, and Yakima tracks only. This price also includes paint match and install. This will be going on a 2010 Tacoma Dbl Cab Short Bed (black sand pearl). Anyone know if this is a good or even reasonable price? They didn't really indicate any wiggle room kind of just made it seem like the price is the price.

I contacted Snugtop for a quote and have not received a reply.

I contacted LEER for a quote and the individual was kind of short with me via email (in addition to not supplying the info I requested out of sheer laziness) so at the very least I would be looking for a different LEER dealer if I wanted to pursue.

But anybody have any thoughts on the quote? I was hoping to keep it under $2000...

FYI I have already inquired about factory seconds (blems) none available.

Thanks for a reference point. I have $220 into the tilt window ($60) and Yakima tracks ($160). But yeah that means there is $800 between Z series and CX.

Did you look at LEER or Snugtops?

Have you looked for a used one? They're significantly cheaper, I was able to find one with the same exact specs as yours for $350.00, granted it didn't match but 200.00 later I had a matching cap.

I just purchased a ARE CX for my 12 double cab short bed with headliner and tilt down sliding window color matched and installed it was $1586 incl. tax. I was told when I ordered mine the Z was about 500 more.

This is what I need to do. $550 versus $2400 LOL. I have observed some on Tacoma World classifieds but they have been longer distance (saw a few recently Texas and California). I need to take another look at the classifieds, Tacoma nation, and Craigslist. Anywhere else you'd recommend I search?

The nice thing is one of the perks of the place I work at is since we design auto parts we have prototype vehicles. They try to rack up as many miles on the vehicles as possible so they let employees borrow them and even pay for the gas. Basically I could get a F-150 free gas to go pick this up somewhere all it would cost me is time.

Are you in a rush? I picked up my ARE Z series from a member for $800. Right color and has the liner. I checked here every day, + ebay and craigslist. Took a few months and a 3 hour (each way) drive, but well worth it. Gotta be patient.

I sort of wanted it ASAP but the price difference between new and used is ridiculous. Basically net me an entire 338 lapua bolt action (or dang near close) further fueling another expensive hobby. I think I will hold off. Hit Tacoma World, Tacoma Nation, Ebay, and Craigslist. I really don't care what options it has or if it even has a headliner. If it doesn't match paint I can get it painted. In fact I don't care if it is an ARE even I just want a hard truck cap that looks good on the vehicle and has a very secure locking mechanism.

Considering I can get a free f-150 + gas to borrow for pickup I probably should shop the used market...

So where is the best place to get something like this paint matched (a good match to black sand pearl)? There is actually a pretty nice LEER that meets requirements excepting it is silver (located in MI) currently on Tacomaworld classifieds.

that's about right on the ARE "Z" Series. I just put on on the 2013 double cab, got color match, tilt down window. The dealer recommended it for cleaning and the rails for the Yakima rack "you can by the pieces cheaper on line" and for everything out the door it was about 2,000. I know that ARE was having a price increase as of January 1.

I shopped around at different dealers and there was no wiggle room on the price. I can say that the warranty has paid for it's self. Watch the side windows, mine didn't have alot of glue holding them on and one fell off on my hands. ARE took care of everything and made it right.

Haha no problem man. I'm still at Georgia Tech but switch to ME, its more universal in this part of the country. So far I like Atlanta, decent hunting is about an 1 1/2 hour away south and it has pretty decent fishing as well. Only thing that sucks is the traffic.Lol Btw I sent you a pm too.

My ARE dealer quoted my abour $2300 for the Z series. I ended up looking through craigslist and found a black one for $800. I love it. It didn't affect my milage really at all. I was able to mount the Thule 430 kit with TK1 feet on the track system. Found them on craigslist as well.
