Rofl, they turned me down anyways, apparently SD and OC Sheriffs are the hardest to get into. Oh well, plenty of PD's available that will actually take a look at my record and consider my history instead of just blatantly turning me down.

 

Should have burried those hookers deeper, then you'd be a sherrif by now. Less evidence, ya know?

 

Be diligent and you WILL succeed. With a Navy B/G that should really help out.

I am considering another line of work myself, maybe try and set up some advance SCUBA courses since the standard entry level diving classes take too much time for the money, I am certified as an MSDT (Master SCUBA Diving Instructor), which also includes Rescue diver and Divemaster courses, and about 8 diving specialties as well as a DAN Instructor, and also a First response/First aid instructor, plus I am a certified EMT-B, with FF/medic experience and I went through the entire internship for Paramedic and never tested...that was stupid, lol.

I worked for a local Dive shop for a while as the lead Instructor, but damn it was a lot of time and had to teach @ La Jolla on the weekends, so I couldnt ride as much. Eventually was over it. But I have a lot of cool gear, lol.

The reason for thinking about trying to get into a new career is mainly due to the extreme physical nature of auto tech and my Arthritis hurts me so bad (mainly the upper joints on my fingers) it feels like they are broken, like right now hurts so bad I want to punch stuff, but I am sure thats not going to make it feel BETTER, lol. And for my type of auto immune disorder (PS) there is no cure, that really sucks.

And the docs just wanna pump me full of poison, done with that!

Yep, my biggest issue was unresolved background issues I never even knew I had! All kinds of stuff popped up right when I was in backgrounds and filling out my PHS. I've since cleared it all up, and all my speeding tickets are off of my record (although still within the last 5 years, last one was just over three years ago) So I think this time around I'll stand a much better chance!

My only issue is that my first time I was honest about my drug use, (back in '08, just a single usage, as well as one night of weed in '07) and I was told to voluntary waive, so I did, its been almost 2 years since then, BUT, because of poor advice that I took, I've been lying on my applications saying it was back in high school...

Have since found out about the Police Sharing Act(something like that) and now I know that lying was the biggest mistake I could have made. I've talked to countless recruiters within the last few months and been nothing but honest with them and they said to just be honest and let them know why and what I did when i apply and I should still stand a good chance, especially with being in School for Criminal justice (halfway done, whoop whoop).

So yea, heading up to Anaheim this weekend for the first step in the process, and I think waiting to hear back from a few other agencies...


Funniest thing I heard was when I was applying at OC sheriffs and was standing next to this group of guys talking about the chances of moving forwards...and I quote..."Fuck man, if you don't have military background, you don't stand a chance out here!"
