^ Yea I needz one of dem.

I'm stumped right now and could use some opinions. I am running out of room in the engine bay. I made a bracket out of some 1/16" aluminum to mount the fuse block and breaker. Here are a couple pics of the mounting locations I am pondering

Next to the compressor, down deep in the hole and hard to get to with no access to the wiring coming through the firewall. I am a little worried mounting it that close to the compressor.

Or on the firewall above the motor. I like this location better. It may be a little harder to reach but I feel like i won't have to cram 20 wires into a 6x6" area. The hood clears the block by about 1/4" in this spot.

The second spot can leave me plenty of room to mount the rock light junction box and aux light relays behind the compressor. Thoughts?

I thought about that but there is not much room over there either, and I would have to extend a lot of wires. There is no where else to mount the compressor, I put that bitch in as tight as I could to still allow access to the filter.

Turn the mount parallel to the firewall and try that. It will be a little flusher and you might be able to access it easier.

I'm just going to mount it behind the compressor. It just barely fits and hopefully I won't have any wire problems underneath it

Why worried about mounting behind the compressor?

It's a little tight, but that's life when adding.

If you want to save some space, you can always relocate the compressor to the air intake. I've seen it done.

I just read a write-up a guy did on turing the A/C in to a compressor. He had about $200 in parts though.

A new ARB compressor is about $200...so uh....derp.

Also, Andy, you could always relocate the compressor under the bed somewhere, or in the bed.

yeah, but the a/c compressor is belt driven and will give way more air than the ARB will. fills tires up in seconds instead of minutes.

Sure. If you want to go to the extra cost of converting it, be my guest. Where's the fire though? My ARB takes maybe 5 minutes to get me aired up.

Have you seen one in person? I didn't know it could be done until I randomly found that thread.

the dood that did it on the baord did it for a total of 120 bucks. thats with compressor and converting himself. also, you could use it to run air tools and what not. the biggest issue is mounting it. yeah u might not wanna do that, but it is a good alternative. if u dont want/need ac like say in a 4runner build like this, just use the stock a/c compressor and convert it over and bam. no issues what so ever

naa, but think about the ac compressor. is it loud? no

Not sayin' it's not viable. Just sayin' I wouldn't go to the trouble. But that's me.

Edit: Also, air tools with the engine running? Please no. I despise working on an idling vehicle and most of the time refuse.

That was me being a smartass.

Not trying to say one is better than the other, I just suggested an alternative that I think is pretty cool.

And I have all those parts and have no problems not having A/C, but the A/C parts are currently in shambles in my closet

Oh for sure. Definitely a unique option.

I was worried about how hot the compressor will get but it shouldn't be a problem I reckon. I forgot to get wire so I'm about to run to the store and then maybe I can have this crap mounted tonight.

    Andrew.

You're worried about heat from the compressor so you move it over toward the engine block? All of this taking place within the enclosed engine bay?
