Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I was a volunteer fireman for 5 yrs a while back. It was an awesome experience. One I feel everyone should experience, especially if they weren't in the armed forces. Anyway, this was issued to us, and from everything I learned, the number one tool in fighting/preventing vehicle fires. Catch them fast, and it can change everything. Great for other fires as well. This is mounted in my cap, but anywhere accessible is great!! Best investment in protecting your truck you can buy!!

I keep one mounted to the headache rack in the back of my truck during the summer months. I feel its definitely a necessary piece of precautionary safety equipment when I'm working with equipment(like a backhoe(also has one mounted on it), chainsaw, brush mowers, log splitters, etc) outdoors in the dry months. Last thing I want to do is be working at someones home and then start an uncontrollable fire- that would end up costing me more money than I make.

This is one of those things you think about every once in a while and say "Damn, I need to do that". Note written and placed by keys. I will be buying one today.

Right. I can just see someone trying to put out an engine fire by sprinkling baking soda on it. I'm sure that would work well.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!

That is exactly how I feel.

Vehicles don't normally explode (like in the movies), but fires start slow and then get rolling. So if you can catch it before it really gets burning, you have a good chance to save it. Maybe have to replace wiring, or melted plastic under the hood. And yes same thing for a brush fire or the like. $18 is pretty cheap insurance.

Mine is behind the rear left seat, it's a Kiddie Marine Fire Extinguisher good for electrical and chemical fires, BC rated.
Avoid the ABC type for vehicle dedicated extinguishers since you don't want all the mess associated with the type A trash compatible extinguishers in you vehicle, a $50.00 mess can turn into hundreds with a ABC type. I guess that ABC types are better than nothing, but if you can choose, get the BC for vehicles.

ABC are better for household uses and outdoors like camping ect. where trash or wood is expected, thus the A type is needed.
