I think he means that without the spacers his tires rub the frame so he can't turn lock to lock.
No way! In 4Lo I hit my rev limiter at just over 40mph and that is without overdrive (4Lo won't let the tranny shift into 5th) 1st gen's Tcases are geared higher too so you can go faster than me I'm sure. If you and I could use overdrive in 4Lo you would really go faster than me. And you guys redline at 6000 instead of 5500n don't you?

Sorry I didn't mean like full out. It'll impact performance like you said. But not noticeable. Not till I go to 16-17,000 feet in Chile

    5th gear in 4 low...is stupid haha

I never go higher then 2nd and early into 3rd. If it's that fast..I just pop it back I to 4h

    Yes do it!!

Seriously tho you will be grateful of the extra clearance. These trails are just a road of mini diff crunching boulders. Every inch counts.

And I doubt you could ship it anywhere near by lol maybe billings..but that's still 100ish miles away haha

Yep. And on 33s...and it still got high centered. Twice I think.

I don't think it's a hardcore trail in the sense you have to know how to drive up a 4' wall or trench.

Like I said, it's not a place that has 2-4 big obstacles and the rest you can just roll over. It's a constant pounding of rocks and the slightest wrong line and your bashing your diff. Takes a lot of concentration and constant changing of your line. John and I last year literally took breaks it was so monotonous on Shoshone.

It'll be different then what I think most will be used to. But fun. I don't think it'll kill anyone's rig at all. But there is the potential there. Just in different ways.

I don't want to talk it up like its rubicon. Cause it's not. But it's not a trail for an armor less rig.

:notsure: I cannot imaging a need for ever having to go faster than 15 mph when in 4lo. In the spot the Ben refferenced on White Rim there was no way we were in 4lo. There was no reason on the whole trail to be in 4lo. I'm gonna stand by what I said. About 25 max in 4lo.

    Your tcase is vulnerable.

I start breathing heavy over 10K feet, can't imaging what it'll be like at 12 or 13K.

I use it to accelerate harder. Like when I am playing in the dunes. I don't think I ever even break 35 when I am out there but I sure accelerate and brake hard the whole time.

When I went wheeling the other day there was a stretch towards the end of the trail where I was trying to keep up with a UTV and was braking and accelerating hard again because I had to slow down for obstacles that the UTV could just weave around. I can just accelerate a lot harder in 4Lo. Now if I am just going to be maintaining a high speed for a while then I will shift into 4Hi so my rpms aren't clear up there.

As has been pointed out in previous discussions, my MO is not to go fast. In most of the wheeling I do, that is only possible on FS roads anyway and I would definitely not be in 4lo for those.

My budbuilt protects mine, shame if you crush your y-pipe

I never have to shift either. :p

I may be in that AO depending on when my block leave is, if I am I will make sure to join up.

My current trip plan is to drive from home (Fort Leonard Wood, MO) to Colorado Offroad Extreme Park and spend a night there. It looks to have a killer track that is perfect for my mild LT truck to stretch its legs and get some safe / reasonable air.

From there, Estes Park and some rock climbing / hiking.

Then I'll move on to Moab and spend a few days exploring there.

Then swing up to Wyoming, hit some trails and camping there, and drive home through South Dakota, stopping at Mt. Rushmore.

    Planning about 10-15 days.

    Sooo... any updates?

Would it help, if I brought a chainsaw and my axe/splitting maul, assuming no fire restrictions by then? I'm assuming we're gonna want some campfires, I'd be happy to maintain a supply of wood :D
