Got pulled out of the water. Ended up camping on the trail. Worked all night on getting the starter freed up, and at about 11 we got it fired up. The exhaust pipe was a fire hose, spewing water 20'. Kept it running for a while then hunkered down til morning. She started right up and we wheeled out, then the 2.5 hour trip home. Not to say that every light on the dash was on and he had to put some pretty heavy coin into repairs. The worst was the smell though, it lasted forever.

True that! Did he keep it running or did it stall out? That truck probably has thousands of problems now. Mine does

No joke, I was in passenger seat and said "Do NOT shut the engine off" He said "I can't hear you" and shut the engine off! I think we would've been ok if he had left it running.

With the Tacoma, all the important ECU bits are on the floor, under the center part of the dash (brilliant placement, huh?). Did your FJ friend end up replacing all that stuff?

Not that stuff but a boatload of other parts. They build them a bit different and much more stock friendly wheelers. Basically military grade.

I would have screamed "don't shut it off!!!!!"

How would he not know that? That's water crossing rule 1!

I dunno????? I think he panicked a little. Not much finesse for that guy, just point the truck and hit the gas.

Off to Towne Fair to yell at them for messing up my rims during install and see what they will do for me. Wish me luck.

It's a fine line though when you get stuck. If you're deep enough to get water in the intake, shut it off immediately! If not, you need to keep it running.

True. I got mud stains in my intake. I narrowly avoided death.

I'm going to do all my fluids once it gets warmer out. Should be. Good time. I'll probably just fill the trans from inside the cab and do the marlin shifter seat at the same time

I have the marlin seats. Have fun with that twist spring lock. How do you fill it from the inside, that seems so much easier.

Alright!!! Town fair ponied up and took responsibility for their idiocy. The tech chipped each rim. They sent me to a repair shop and they confirmed. Now my rims will be repainted and the weights will be on the inside. Why they used exterior weights is beyond me??? So all this is free to me, thinking about getting them painted matte black, have to look for pics. :D
