We were fishing east of Reno that day. Cali side is starting to pick up too. I have been fish the East Walker the last 2 weekends. Crazy midge hatch in the morning then BWO's from late morning until 5-530. Got these guys on dries.

I am going to go to either the wind below Boysen or the Green in Utah, wherever the wether looks best. I am rolling solo so don't really have any prefernce and both are the same distance from me, so let me know if you are interested in hitting the Wind and I could be easily persuaded.

Simms or Patagonia are the only way to go, I have Patagonia myself.

Cool, no worries. If I change my plans and decide to head that way, I will give you a shout. Don't know if you are familiar with that water at all, but sections I would suggest are the inlet to the lake by the chalk cliffs, especially chuckin streamers, and one of my favorites is right below the canyon where there are a bunch of boulders right above a big set of rapids, and then the hole down below the rapids. Last year I was up there at this time and had good success with eggs, Juan worms, variety of dark leechs and buggers. Good luck!

A couple pre-spawned slabs picked off with a 5wt flyrod as I was threading the needle between the minnow chunkers!!! A chart/olive beadhead crappie bugger did the job...

Simms are hard to beat...though I have never given Patagonia a wet test.

Here are my pics from the weekend at the Green, camped and fished mainly the "C" section in Brown's Park, where fittingly caught mainly browns.

Had to take care of priorities first:

    Green33112048_zps8588fae3_0ab8bfa8600cd9140001511439d15e65a7139ba5.jpg

Camping spot at sunrise Saturday. I did a tour of the river, drove up to the A section mid morning after slamming browns on the spinning setup at camp at dawn.

    A 20" whitey from the A section:

Then back down to Brown's Park, mainly threw the spinning rod down by camp, Rapalas and spoons produced lots in 14" range, and a few in the 16" range, no bows hooked down this far.

Sunday I spent at the takeout below the B section and slammed em all day on a wine colored juan and a grey KF. Best trout to hand, about 18", foul hooked and broke off bigger. Most fish were 14-16" range

From my experience this past weekend, I would say the Mile and Reef fish are on average quite a bit larger, at least in the section that I was fishing of the Green, but that is based on just 1 trip to the Green, and handfuls on the North Platte.

The Stranahans was pretty damn good, I got it as a birthday indulgence, I am turning 30 next week and took this trip as sort of a solo birthday celebration and wanted to do it up right. Not sure I would buy it on the regular, for 50 bucks, lots of other whiskey can be had, but it was nice to splurge, and it was enjoyable.

I learned to fly on the green at Jone's hole. Still dream of all the great fish I caught there. Makes me want to move to the mid west!

Yup, we get lumped in the SW, but really I consider AZ/NM the SW. I would say WY/CO/UT is the east-west?? :notsure:

    Hey all,

Relatively new to TW, just spotted this thread.

Heading up to South Platte/Deckers (about an hour and half south west of Denver) river this weekend to hopefully slay some trout, and get some camping in.

Going to possibly my favorite spot in Colorado.

Sweet, used to go up there a bunch but got sick of the crowds by Deckers, lower down the river is less crowded as I am sure you know. I am over in Arvada, hit me up if you are lookin for a partner in crime anytime. Sweet truck too BTW!

Def will, we are going to be in the campgrounds across the river this weekend.

I have always had good luck down by the two big boulders right before the waterfall. Normally not busy, but i normally hit deckers on weekdays that I don't have to work. :D

Cheesman Canyon is right above there and holds some HAWGS! Beautiful hike, you can make a loop of it, I would guess 7 miles, with some godd elevation change and some of the finest trout water in the state.

And from a local forum, which has good info for statewide:
