Wasn't Todd the guy with the silver AC manual and the carbon fiber hood?
Delandgixxer750? He didn't seem like a law enforcement.

Going on a 3 week road trip next spring, would like to have something with me in case we end up in the thick of backwoods Maine. Plus, even though we are in a safe community, we are overly paranoid, I would like my gf to have something at home when I am traveling for work. Just a peace of mind thing. Shes vegan...there will be no hunting with this =)

I have a mossberg maverick 88 which was super cheap ($180) and its the exact same as a mossberg 500 and you can use all the same parts. Just an option bc you can get it in a short barrel and with a pistol grip.

But i think the remington is a little better quality

That was the initial discussion. "Either get a 500 or an 870, they are the standard". Having zero knowledge of guns, I pretty much went to my military buddies and my dads DEA/ATF co-workers (speaking of which....I got some VERY interesting FBI info for you Will, which I can rely to you offline) and they said the same.

Seems like the aftermarket for the 870 offers plenty for what I want (really just a light, maybe a saddle, but I can't justify that yet other than looks). I'm trying not to dress the gun up a ton, I hope it stays in the closet unless it's at the range, I've never been a gun person, but a 3 week camping trip has me thinking about "the other side".
