Maybe a zombie's appearance has lot to do with the "virus" or whatever it is...if that were the case, then that would explain the eyes, etc...

    My take:

bicycle girl from episode 1 was half eatin, turned, and left in the sun to dry out/rot

teddy bear girl was a trama of some sort

both were exposed to the elements for a while (varying times)

Merle and Shane weren't. Did Andrea's sister (Amy) look as zombied as Merle and Shane when she turned?

If I came across a zombie Upton, i'd put it down like any other, and possibly consider a quick boob honk.

    NICE...

But yet the teddy bear girl was still a zombie - remeber Shane turned but that didn't result from a bite, it would be considered a trauma, no?

The more I think about it, the more sense it makes for the zombie virus to have very adverse affects on the human body. I mean, look at thier eyes...after someone dies, their eyes don't look like that. And before you ask, yes I have seen enough to remember...

    Just had a revelation...

It can't be a zombie virus because if everyone is infected with it, then that would suggest that it would remain dormant until death. Yet, zombie bites result in death from the infection and that would suggest that the infection is unstoppable, but yet everyon has it...

OH WAIT, that would be making too much sense...:D

Z-virus that infected everyone, unkown on details
Death caused by zombie bites due to something similar to septic shock, a flush of nasty rotten fluids entering the body and causing a major and fast spreading infection

The rules are everyone turns upon death unless the brain is damaged.
Zombie bites are lethal unless you're Hershel, he's a badass.

What I meant with Teddy bear girl dieing of trama is I was thinking maybe she was in a car accident and had internal bleed or something, as her only visible injury was a Fucked jaw that could have been caused by feeding and ripping it on some gnarly irregular bones.

How quickly does blood turn black? How long after death? One cause of the black mouth could be like an upper GI bleed or in the mouth, old blood goes black no?

Very good points...I see what you are saying on the zombie virus and the bites. So, on that, if one were to clean the wound asap, one would still die, no? I guess Herschel's bite was far enough away for amputation to work...guess none entered the bloodstream. Old blood does turn brown/black, but not sure on timeframe - guess that would depend on conditions...

I think it'd have to be a pretty thorough cleaning to stop the infection. but in theory I guess it'd work. The problem is though what really kills a virus and do you want to pour that into someone's open wound?

Well, all virus'es have the same basic principle...so whatever works for them would for that also, but since there isn't any we can speculate all day...

Think back to episode one, which I saw again the other day. What's His Name's wife still looked perfectly normal in the face, except for the zombie stare. She kept acting like she knew her husband and son were inside that house as well.

I guess her looking lovely kind of fit the plot though, agonizing what to do about a loved one.

I think there are certain parts of a fictional story that need to be accepted as part of the story telling and not necessarily finely analyzed

Having the zombies look the way they do differentiates them from the survivors

This seas was a bust for me. They hyped up the finale to be a war between the groups. Well if that was what you call a war, I'm beyond disappointed. I'm tired of the chess match and "gotta build up the plot". Ya did that for an entire season! I hated to see Milton die, I kinda thought he might be the one to take down the Guvv. Andrea got what she deserved and Carl needs a good old fashioned ass whooping! Next season, I'll watch the new episode when I get to it, ain't gonna make it a point to be home to watch it on time.

Meanwhile, I'm ready for Breaking Bad!!
