"Hockey fans are known for throwing an eclectic array of items on the ice: Millions of hats; sausages and waffles; dead octopi, dead ducks and even a dead shark with a dead octopus in its mouth.
On Monday night in The Pas, a town in Northern Manitoba, the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League defeated the Dauphin Kings to force a Game 7 in their playoff series. So excited were the fans about this turn of events that one of them ? well, tossed a severed moose leg on the ice, of course.

Alas, it doesn't appear as though any of the players picked it up and started hoof-handling the puck. Which is what we would have done.
Bradley Karp, the play by play voice of the Blizzard and the News/Sports Director for CJ1240 explains:
The team is based out of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation here in Northern Manitoba, just across the river from the town of The Pas. The Blizzard are currently in the playoffs in the second round. They found themselves down 3-0 to the Dauphin Kings (regular season champs) and have reeled off three straight wins to force a Game 7 on Wednesday. Anyway, Game 6 was tonight at the GLMC (referred to as the Rez Dome) and a fan threw a REAL MOOSE LEG on the ice.
I couldn't find video of it, but here is a picture of me with the moose leg. In Detroit it's an octopus, Florida it's rats and here in OCN it's Moose Leg.

The moose leg hurling tradition has even extended to the AHL, as the MTS Centre saw the shank of an antlered beast hit the ice during a Manitoba Moose game in 2010."
