Yeah, when I was explaining my problem to the guys at work they wouldn't believe the fact that Toyota call it that.

when I was down under my truck to check out the fill and drain plugs for differtials and transfer case, I noticed that my transfer case was wet with oil :(. It is obviously leaking oil and it is not from the drain plug because most of the housing is wet with oil. Do I need to be concerned about this? should I take it to the dealership before changing the oil in it?

if i were you, i'd clean it off really well with brake cleaner and soap/water and see if you can pin point the leak......then, take it in,especially if you are under warranty. im saying clean it because the dealerships will try like hell to claim you did it, or they didnt find a leak. ask me how i know.

It must be leaking from the seals where the housing is bolted together. I wonder if I should try tightening those bolts, in case they are not very tight and allowing oil leak by the seals at the flange.

That sounds frustrating. Just get some grade 8s to replace them and hopefully you wont have an issue
