Sometimes, the "old school" way, isnt good enough. The crush gasket has to get a good seal, or it will leak. Keep an ear out.

I changed mine yesterday after putting it off for so long. I wish I had done it months ago! The truck runs so much better, and the throttle response is so much smoother.

It doesn't feel like it has any more torque :0 but I can't believe the difference it made. I still had the factory plugs in at 100k+

I change mine every 30k miles. Just did them last week and definitely feels smoother now.

When I bought the plugs the parts counter guy said they were pre gapped but I checked and according to the owners manual they are supposed to be 1.1 and they were less than 1. I gapped them correctly but I'm not sure what difference the gap actually makes.

Just did this today to my uncle's 05 with 140000 miles on it. And it appeared to have the original plugs still in. 3 NGK's on tge drivers side and 3 Denso's on the passenger side. One NGK took the gap contest at .080" the rest were around .075"

Performed my 30k maintenance today. Changed out the plugs and it went very well for my first time too me about an 1.5hrs. Next time it will be less. When I pulled the plugs they looked good. When I gapped them, they were a bit enlarged. I'd say about .046. Gapped new ones to .043. I used all NGK plugs. Thanks Chris for this awesome write up. Had my phone with me doing the maintenance and it was easy to just get a quick reference.

So I've picked up everything needed. Even got some dielectric grease based on reading this thread. What is the purpose of it exactly? Is it really necessary? (I'm sure opinions vary on this)

It's mainly waterproofing/corrosion resistance but not using it won't kill anything. The main thing IMO is using the antiseize on the plug itself.

I use it on the top spark plug connector, makes it come off the socket easier AND prevents corrosion inside the spark plug cap.

This write up was excellent. I ended up disconnecting a couple extra hoses on the driver side just to save my knuckles. It took a little under 2 hours and that was with my neighbor coming over to BS while I was working on it.

Did the plugs again today, took a little over an hour. Plugs had 29K on them, 1K early but I had some spare time today...and not much in the near future.

They looked pretty decent to me, some of them had a little bit of build up around the crush gasket though, and most of them had fairly oily threads. Engine almost to 100K:cool:

Do they look decent to everyone else? How about the oil on the plugs...normal?
