I just figured the "legal" speed would have to be posted for this to be legal. But nothing has happened yet, just the word being passed around that this is coming. Our security director has had a cop radar in the past with no tickets, but you never know what this guy is truly capable of.

Dude, if you get a radar so you don't get caught speeding you should probably slap yourself. Numerous times. Most radars and lasers get activated at the very last second by the cops to avoid detection. So by the time your radar alerts you, well it's already too late. Plus, most cops can visually estimate your speed and issue a ticket based sorely on that estimation once they get certified after attending a speed measurement course. And no, there's no way of getting out of the ticket because they didn't use an actual radar. And no, they don't have you show you the radar. Hope this helps...

That's a some BS right there. Just because they're certified doesn't make them accurate all the time. Yeah, I'm good at my job but doesn't make me perfect every time.

The class is very demanding actually. Plus most cops, unless they really want to for other reasons, won't stop you unless you're going 10+ over. By other reasons I mean you leaving an area known for drugs and things like that.

I don't own a radar detector I was saying they are threatening to radar the employees driving around to make sure we aren't speeding on property when there are no legal posted speed limit signs.

They can't issue a ticket unless its clearly and properly posted. You should be good.

Ok, just to help clarify. I am asking, if this came to be reality, could I push the subject, let him ticket me and take him to court to make my security director look like the ass he is proving himself to be? Is it legal to ticket for speed on private property that has no legal speed limit posted?

That's what I was looking for, thanks.

Now by clearly posted, does it have to be DOT posted or can it be a generically made sign?

Ha, 90% of what they do to get you a lower fine and no traffic school you can do yourself and save some $$$. Think of them like a auto parts store at a stealership.

Gotcha, I just know that my job requires me to estimate speed very accurately with other variable factors induced and well I'm not accurate all the time but pretty damn close. Luckily I have good backup equipment to do the job most of the time.

Clearly posted means it doesn't have a large tree or something like graffiti covering the sign and/or is flimsy enough that the wind can make it flop or shake. It has to be visible without any obstruction, period.

Now, I've seen some fancy neighborhoods with some fancy signs and well those are legit. If your security guard prints and laminates a sign with whatever speed he deems reasonable well that won't fly.
