Back when I had my 89 toy, the rear end had been welded solid for posi. Although not great for driving around town awsome for mudding, hunting truck. Anybody ever do this as I. Trying to remember how to do another truck. We took back cover off rear end and welded somthing in center of rear end.

Also my 89 also had add which sucked. We also welded the collar in the front diff that slides back and forth so it couldn't move. Putting a spot weld on both sides so it is free floating. NOT welded solid. As I did this first and took out all the bearings in a short time. Then I put a positive vac on The add and with lock outs everything worked great. My question is can a guy welded somthing in the front alsoto make it posi. This is only a beater truck for hunting not a daily driver. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

You gota pull the third out of the rear to weld the spider gears and split the front case before you weld them but its doable.

Welding will work but you're gonna drastically shorten the lifespan of the diff. A lot of people do it for "savings", but I think that depends on how long you keep the vehicle.

Will agree with you on a 8'' Toy rear. I ran a 60 & 70 HD welded with chromoly shafts on my DD YJ with Michelin XML 395/85/20's( Avalanche Engineering Beadlocks, no chromies). Lasted almost a year of wheeling & DD before the rear ring took a poop and sent a chunk of itself through the cover. Still run the same 70 HD rear, but with a proper locker and 42'' TSL's.
