Thanks for the help and good question.

I have a couple trips planned for the summer. This is a new hobby of mine so I am not totally sure yet. I used to camp when I was younger with my dad. I like to hunt and fish in the outdoors as well. I am going to Moab, badlands Indiana, and silver lake dunes in Michigan for sure. I will probably use it 3-4 times a year. Primarily over weekends. I need something that will last me couple years. If this hobby grows into more than that a trailer with a RTT will be my next step.

The BC4 should do great for you then and last many years. Plus, it is REI so no questions returns and warranty etc.

    Yup.
That's exactly why I won't have mine in by Moab, cause I can't do the cage by then.

So I have a question for you guys that painted your plate bumpers, how many rattle cans of paint should I buy? I can buy the duplicolor silver streak mica cans in 6 packs for $5.62/can on Amazon with free shipping.

I also have 4 skid plates to paint too but they will just be black. Well... maybe I will have to color match the front one though.

Oh I should mention they are 8 oz cans. I think the typical rattle can is 12 oz...

    See thread
if your going to get one before/for moab i would recommend one with the least amount of mesh. last year when the wind picks up it blows all of the sand in the bfe parking lot into your tent....and it really sucks and is really annoying. but thats just my .2

no. that was just annoyingly bad spotting and directing
it only took 2 cans to get 3 coats of primer...so im thinking 3 cans will do it for me. There are also a lot of little spaces in the bumper, so a lot of paint is definitely wasted spraying all of the different angles. Not like the skids...which are flat and will be super easy to paint. I would go with your first guess of 6 cans just to be safe, and so you have extra to carry with you to touch it up
