LOL! I have felt the same way about my truck all day. It took me all afternoon to get the driver side knuckle reshimmed :frusty:

Got everything finished. New rear brakes, 1" bore MC, LSPV bypass, IFS width axle *fully rebuilt* with new Chromo shafts and 1.5" spacers for the front. Threw the half doors on also since it was nice out this weekend. :D

One thing I have noticed is the Spartan locker is popping more/louder than it did with the narrower axle. Im guessing it's because that 3" was just enough of change in how fast one tire spins vs the other in turns. Still not bad enough to make me want to take it out though. It feels like the truck handles a little better and rides a little better also.

    *edit*
And one thing I found out is the 79-85 u-bolt flip plates are narrower than the 86-95, thats because the spring perches are wider in the IFS axles. You can tell in the last pic the u-bolts are angled in a little at the top. Going to take them to class and mill the holes out a little larger one day soon.

Well, I had to take the old girl to the mechanic today. I wasn't happy with the brakes so he is going to try and get them working 100%. I did all I could think of to get them working but didn't really trust them esp if I was half way up a mountain on rocky terrain. I'm also working on getting a e-brake cable and a t-case mount parking brake. Saftey first!!

Me too, I tried to swap the old MC in and still ended up with little/no brakes. He should be finished in a few days. I'll report back with the answer.

Got the truck back today, he got all the air out of the lines and adjusted the rear shoes out. She stops like a new one now, pedal is firm as soon as you hit it.

Thinking of putting this in the front, rear ratio is 4.11 this one is 4.10?? Think this would work or cause problems?

If you were worried about durability, I'd say get same ratio. But you're welding spider gears. Fuck it. Also, you have manual hubs, yes? Your diff isn't always live like us 2nd genners.

Only time it would bind is with the hubs locked on high traction surfaces...those two shouldn't ever be buddies. If your hubs are locked, you're on slippery shit and front/rear won't bind anymore than they do with regular 4wd.

Turning in 4wd will probably be a mighty bitch though, because if the front has any traction you'll be fighting lack of differential side to side plus the ass dragging slightly.

Edit: I guess you could still snap some shit on the rocks, since they're basically funky shaped asphalt. But that's just occupational hazard of the game.

Edit x2: This is all assuming same tire diameter. You could do the math and run slightly larger front tires :p

Having the twin stick should help with binding.

If I could I'd use a 2wd/locked combo in a LOT of situations.

If my stock t-case/actuator ever shits I'm doing the FJ mod solely for twin stick (and to get the actuator out of the picture).
