which way to go

ok so im gonna need new tires soon. the tread on mine is pretty much worn away.

i've read reviews and they say its not good to buy all terrain tires unless i'll be spending most of my time off road but mostly it'll be here in town in vegas and on the occasional weekend so what would be a good tire to go with

I had the BFG A/T's on my 92 yota and had 47k before I traded it with half tread left. They did great on and off road. Well worth the $$$

 

i think you mixed up all terrains with mud terrains. MTs are typically heavier and have a more aggressive tread than ATs, which lead to a decrease in gas mileage, plus MTs are typically louder tires than ATs.. If you plan on wheeling somewhat regularly but still want good on road performance, go with ATs. Yeah, highway tires will be best for the highway, but once you get off road you'll be kicking yourself for not having ATs.

 

so the AT tires would be good to go with even if the majority of my drive time will be on-road?

yeah, i'd say the most popular type of tire for trucks that see both on and off road duty are AT tires.

BFG AT's are without a doubt the most popular type of AT tire.

Some other popular choices (on here atleast) are Brigestone Revos, Nitto Terra Grappler/Toyo Open Country (pretty much same tire...Toyo owns Nitto), Cooper ST, and Goodyear recently came out with a very good looking tire, the Wrangler Duratrac.

Definately go with an all-terrain. I run Nitto Terra Grappler and have no complaints and they are cheaper than BFG .

 

Exactly what pittim said....

A/T's are the best tire to get when you have a 4WD vehicle and mostly drive on the roadway but occasionally drive offroad and in snow/etc. They're better than these car-like looking tires that come on the trucks.
When mine run out - I'm getting A/T's.

I have the Toyo MT tires with no noise and ride is smooth. This is my second set and I got 45K out of the first ones.. LOVE "EM
