Size of speakers in standard cab

I am about to do an audio install and wanted to know if anyone knows the size of the speakers in the front door of the standard cab? I've seen the baffles from ********* but I'm not sure if the standard cab uses the larger baffles or the smaller triangluar shaped baffle. Let me know please.

 

All Tacoma front doors are the same. You would use the larger size mounts from *********, which you can order with either a 6x9 opening or a 6 1/2 opening.

 

Thanks for the info. When I went to *********' store they had the smaller triangle listed as the front doors for the standard cab.

 

I think with the larger baffle I can mount an 8" midbass driver, therefore I wanted to make sure it was the larger baffle.

 

I may have to stand corrected. If ********* says smaller triangle ones, maybe they are right, though I really fail to understand why the fronts would be any different at all for any of the tacos as the front doors should all be the same.

You may want to pull your door pannel to make sure before ordering, and check it against the photos in my speaker upgrade sticky at the top of the audio video page.

Perhaps the regular cab comes with smaller fronts than the access or double cab trucks, and so therefor it's prescribed replacement might be smaller, but I really do think that the 6x9 mounts should bolt right up.

 

My standard cab door panels have a circular hole only large enough to fit the stock 6.5" speakers. The panel would have to be modified to fit a 6x9. Install something that fits and stick a sub under the passenger side of the bench.

 

is that a sub running free air? Is it mounted to anything?

 

The sub is a Kenwood SW-10, it has a 5x7 driver and a 5x7 Passive Radiator. Kenwood claims a maximum of 150 watts and 35W RMS. The body is made from cast aluminum. A strip of Velcro is all that is needed to keep it from slipping around. They can be found on Amazon for a little less than $150 - including shipping. Works really well for me. If someone wanted a monster boombox, this ain't it.

ok I see now. I thought that what was visible was the magnet and you just set a subwoofer under there with no enclosure firing downward. Glad you cleared that up.

 

If it were that simple we'd all have monster subs and be driving down the street setting off car alarms.

 

for anyone who has installed speakers in their 05-09 reg cab how hard was it to remove the doors? Is there a tutorial?

Negative...my standard cab has 6 1/2". No way a 6X9 is going into a regular cab door unless you do some serious fabrication.

 

Very easy to do, three screws, 1 pop fastner and several fastners that hold the panel to the door. Very easy and about 1 minute of work to get it off.

 

Again, the regular cab door is different than the extended cab or double cab. The door has a crank window which has a clip and it doesn't have another screw around the door handle I'm just making sure that there isn't anything hidden that I could miss and mess up my door.

 

I have a regular cab and just had the doors apart this weekend. Remove the crank. On the door grab handle, that is a cover that will expose two screws. Look down low and forward on the grab part and you'll see the tiny slot for small screwdriver to pop the cover off. Insert small screwdriver and pull up and toward you, it'll pop. You'll see the two screws that hold it to the door. Then remove the other screw behind the door release/lock.
