First Taco purchase last week...I'm in LOVE!!! first order of business was get rid of the awful Squeaking noise from the blower fan motor. took about 30 min...not bad at all. lets see how it lasts now!!

Thanks, I had my stock 265's on them for the last week but they looked a little ballooned out to me.

They were very easy to install following the directions. However, this kit does require you to have a pop rivet gun and do some drilling.

 

I love the look of your Spruce Taco....is that wrong?

 

It's at an odd location where two panels are seamed together. One of my holes was right next to the glue line and it didn't look like it was going to sit straight, but it came out just fine.

Follow the directions on the drill. A cheap stamped steel pop riveter is not going to do the job, and the drill is an oddball size that Home Depot doesn't carry. Go to the next size up and the rivet won't seat, next size down and you won't get it in.
You can, if you're careful, ream the hole out with the smaller size.

Lower mount goes in with sheet metal screws, so a smaller size works just fine.

Finally got my Duplicolor perfect match spray paint in today. Had to be shipped via ground. Been waiting forever!
To start, I roughed the chrome with wet 400 grit. Then I shot 2 coats of adhesion promoter, 2 coats of gray primer, and then 3 coats of dark gray primer, with lots of wet sanding in between. I like to use 2 different color primers so I know when i'm about to sand through. I taped off the mounting tabs and the screw holes, and then cut a wire hanger up to use as a stand, and then taped it to a board to make it easier to maneuver and stand up. Even though I bought 4 cans of the paint, I only ended up using less than one can. Probably because of the dark gray primer.
Just with the final base coats applied, 3 total. no clear yet.




This is with just 2 coats of clear. Gonna let it fully cure, and then wet sand with 600, then another probably another 2 coats.



So far so good

 

Looks good so far! I might do this with my chrome bumper

I didn't trust that thin lip. There's a lot of pressure in those struts.


Edit: Yup... PDF says to mount it on the solid lower surface.

 

Thanks! I am pretty impressed with this paint. Once it gets close to empty, you're better off switching cans. Don't want it to sputter during a final coat. Also don't start and stop over the piece. Long sweeping strokes to avoid splatter/spots.
