Here is my office until station bids go out some time this month. I don't believe I have the seniority to stay at the station I'm at. I just got lucky this go around ha.

Question for you career guys. What certs did you have at the time of being hired? I have my FF1 and I will have my basic emt and redcard pretty soon. I will have those three for sure, but will hopefully finish up with a degree in fire protection technology soon. Most openings I see around here want you to do their personal academies. What did you guys do?

I did an academy on my own then EMT. And two small volley department academies for pre employment. Then I went through a career academy with the department I am on currently. So certs before hire were FF1, haz mat opps, EMT. A few other ones that are just special rescue stuff but they didn't help with hire. I know in the Denver area they are changing the hiring process so people will have to have certs to get hired. The academy I went through for career was a joint academy with 6 departments in the Denver metro area and everyone had to have FF1, haz mat ops, EMT B just to get into the academy.

I start EMT class this week. The book is huge. I'm not all that hyped up anymore haha.

Does anyone want to trade patches? Trying to get our collection built up at our station. We have about 10 now, and I am just starting to build it bigger. PM me :D
