    Haven't posted in here for a while now. Looks like folks have been busy running. Great to see.

    My training continues. I'm getting ready for the Vancouver Half Marathon in May. It'll be my 3rd ever 1/2, and I'm really hoping to crack the 2 hour marker. First 1/2 was 2:20 (Vegas 2011) - 2nd was 2:12 (Victoria 2012). My best 21k ever was in training (last year) at 2:07. But just yesterday I pulled off a 21k training run in 2:03:50. And it wasn't even supposed to be a 'push' run. I simply ran my pace - felt comfortable the whole way - and really only pushed for the last 6 to 700 meters (when I realized I had a nice time going). It was pretty damn cold (about -10C with the wind). My water/fuel kept turning the slush - lol. The sun was out though - so it partially balanced out the cold.

    I've been working to drop a bit more weight - just to help me get lighter on my feet. I've dropped a solid 6 to 7 pounds recently, and I'm seeing the results in my running. After my dramatic weight-loss a couple years ago, I've hovered around 200 pounds for a solid year and a half. But now I'm edging towards 190. I'm hoping to be between 185 and 190 for the race in May. But I'm being super careful doing so. I don't like to just 'drop weight' - as that can be harmful (if you do it wrong). I'm slowly dropping it, while maintaining strength and muscle.

    Reading the pages here and seeing how some can rattle off great race times with minimal training and such - man.....makes me wish I was 20 years younger. Oh well. As a 43 year old former fat guy, I'm happy I'm closing in on a possible sub 2 hour half marathon. :D

    Hey Tilt, Keep it up man youll crack that 2 hour mark. Also those last few pounds are a real bitch but well worth the work. I'm 46 5 10 and 155. I used to go about 185. Just keep at it and have fun running.
    I am hoping to break that 2 hour mark on May 5th!
    Im still nursing a knee problem but its getting better.

    I ran 2 miles yesterday. Just testing the knee. It seems good, I will slowly inch up the miles. Hoping to get back up to 25-30 a week.

    I'll be getting over 35 miles this week, for the first time since December, but more importantly, I had a 5.5 miler in just 46.17 last Thursday. That was EPIC!!! :D

    congrats :)

    got 31.5 in this week 5/5/5.4/11.3/4.8- finally into the 30's again, I'll bump my long run up a couple miles next weekend

    out of curiosity, how many days are you are typically running? do you do a long run?

    I'm typically running 4-5 days a week, with one long run (long being anything over 10)

    I always try to aim for 4-5 days a week, Last week, I ran for 6 days, but two days were SLOW 3.5 milers. That is because on Monday (recovery day) I ran a FAST (for me) 5 miler, on sidewalks. I'm not used to running on concrete anymore (not that I ever was) , and forgot to put on my compression socks after I got home.

    My longest was a 7 miler on Saturday.

    Yesterday I had my first lack of sodium cramping, since I don't know when. This happened in a 67 degree day! :eek:

    I think I'm loosing my Floridianess! :(

    I can relate :( got a flu shot in November, came down w/ the flu in mid January- out a full week (2-3 weeks after before feeling 100%); mid Feb had a stomach virus, not a 24 hour one, but closer to a 72-96 hour one- out four days; early March another flu (or flu like virus)- out a full week again! like the other one 2-3 weeks before feeling 100%

    by my calculations I should be healthy four four years now :D

    First time back running outside, ive been on an indoor track and the tread mill for the winter and it was convenient to take a break from lifting, get some cardio in then lift some more. And holy shit I forgot how much easier it is for me to run outside! Albeit it was a perfect day, morning, overcast, it had rained that night so it was nice and cool. I was getting a morning jog in before work, got 2.3 miles pretty solid, with a slight break at the halfway point (a shell station) to get a cup of water and download a running ap haha. Each way is 1.5 miles, and I did the second half in 9.3 min/mile. Hopefully if I keep pushing it on the treadmill 3 or so times a week when I go to the gym ill be able to confidently do a 5k in a month or so.

    ended up w/ 30.6 miles for the week (6.5/5.2/5.4/13.1), didn't get my long run in on Saturday like I planned, moved it to Sunday- so missed one day.

    my run today went really well, 13.1 miles in 2:07- trail isn't very technical, but has several decent climbs (~2000' of elevation gain)- pretty spent though, that's the fastest I've run that loop

    if all goes according to plan (usually doesn't :D), I'll get 5 runs in next week and push my long run to 15- which should put me in the upper 30's for the week
