Seems to me that for this poll to mean anything, it needs to be at least divided into separate V6, 4cyl polls. No? And then maybe auto and stick sub-polls within each...2WD, 4WD--It really could go on and on, but I think you see my point.

I had a 2007 TRD 4x4 DC and really liked it. Traded it for a 2011 4x4 4runner as I didn't really think I needed a pick up. As much as I love-love my 4runner I now bought a house and could use a pick up again. I was surprised to see the low mileage posted here. My runner has a stronger/smoother v6 than the Tacoma and I'm getting 20-23 consistently...now I'm worried about getting 16-18 if I switch back to the Tacoma! When will Toyota upgrade the engine on the Taco? If I get a pick up I really want a Tacoma again.

I started monitoring all my gas fillups last october religiously, I discovered that I was getting 11-12 mpg on city driving and at the most 16 on highways... This was mostly because of my driving habits, which I decided to change about 2 months ago, now I try not to exceed speed limits, try to keep the revs under 2k on city and less than 2.5 on highway, when on a complete stop I accelerate slow, just with these changes I bumped my MPG to 14-15mpg on city and 18-19 on highway...

Im gonna try to improve these values

I just did my first highway mileage check on my 2013 Dbl Cab TRD OR w/TRD SC. Had to make a early AM trip that was 260miles each way. Going over I got 20.7 MPG driving 70MPH, per the speedo, turning about 2025RPM and it was pouring down rain with LOTS of water on the road.

Coming back it was mostly dry road and like going over I used cruise nearly the entire trip but I was curious to see what it would do so I set the cruise at 65MPH which is, per the Tach, a little under 2000RPM. Return trip it hand calculated out at 22.7MPG

Also, going over it was a gradual elevation drop of 1900ft to 300ft and obviously the return trip was a gradual up hill drive. The extra water on the road certainly adds resistance.

I definitely am a believer that driving style will change your MPG. My wife drove my truck last week. She traveled the same route that I got 19.93 and 19.98 on the last two tanks. I filled up before I left this morning and checked her mileage, knowing it would likely be lower than what I get. It was, with her driving style it was 17.6MPG

What is your total miles on your truck. Also, are you using non-ethanol gas?

I'm averaging about 18 MPG, 60/40 split highway/city, 2013 V6 auto 4x4 TRD. It's been improving over the last month or so. About 9500 km (~5900 miles) on the truck.

bl78, I just turned 4500 today and I use non ethanol as often as I can but the tank full that went 22.7MPG was Chevron Supreme and I'm pretty sure it was 10% ethanol.

22.7 is impressive. Whats your average speed and hwy/city ratio.

So far, Im getting 20.5 mixed; 70/30 hwy/city. Also, Im using non-ethanol gas.

bl78, the 22.7 was all freeway with the cruise set at 65mph. My Taco is like my SuperDuty diesel pickup, for best MPG results keep the RPM under 2000 and they do their best on fuel.

One thing I REALLY like about having that extra power of the SC, it never shifts down going up hills. I went over a Snoqualmie Pass with the cruise set and it never shifted down at all. On the way back over there is one spot that's a little steeper and the torque converter unlocked once and that was it.

I think on a mostly flat road trip if you set the cruise at 60mph and it didn't drive you crazy going that slow I could get 23-24mpg. Maybe! But, I doubt I'll ever find out because just doing 260miles at 65mph was painful. Only driving 60 would be cruel and unusual punishment, don't think I could handle it.

I get crap gas mileage now because of my tires and my commute being 4 city miles, with traffic. Truck never really gets warmed up on the commute, and I'm constantly stopping and going again.

    Hey guys. adio and 03s5fp

I like (of course) both of your MPG's. Personally to be honest Adio's is perfectly believable and 03's is possible but seems doubtfull for a longterm average .... just sayin ...:D

So.... how are you doing it?

Gas Ethanol low grade or non-e 91?

Tires stock or ... ? 6ply, 8 or 10; hgwy tread or aggressive

    4cyl or 6?

    stock or lifted?

    Avg speed on Hgwy?

Any other factors you believe play into the equation would be great!

Just for where I am coming from:

I got rid of my K&N when I looked thru it and saw all the holes in the medium - went back to a dry air filter and had no change in MPG.

'05 DCSB trd 3" lift with 265/70/16 BFG's gets around 20 mixed (70/30) summer gas if I am easy on acceleration.

Same pu with Hankook MT (or whatever the aggressive hankook is:rolleyes:) 235/85/16's will get 18 mpg when adjusted for tire height (17 by the odometer) on summer gas and 16 on winter gas. These are my studded winter tires (tall. skinny, but heavy 10 ply's that came off my old '68 ford)

Same pu with some wore out slick michelin 265/70/16 6 ply tires got 23 mpg on summer gas - I bought some used wheels and wore the rest of the rubber off, was very impressed instantly with gas mileage difference.

Ok, well lets have it ... what's your secrets
