Did you install any kind of protection to keep water out of the electronics? I have always wanted to know how they keep the black boxes from shorting out.

Solid axle can't stay on the road at high speed!! Truck drives mostly on potholed filled roads long distance. IFS does all and is better all round suspension.

No reports of any electronic issues in the water and muck. We initially had a check engine light due to moisture in the oxy sensor simulator plugs buy after they were sealed no further issues. Looking at the 1GR-FE engine I expect the first failure to be the idler pulleys. They are low and I am sure the bearings will get washed out.

Was looking at the problem on my Taco today. Close rear doors..put both hands on bottom and push in and out...note play. I stuck a piece of plastic 3/32 in thick to the bottom of door where it strikes the rubber stopper. Now the doors are firm!!!! Test pull before and after and note the difference. Just shim until tight!!!!

Pull and push here and bottom of door...in and out!!! I had cam in other hand which should have been at bottom of door.

Shim here until tight...seems to work well. Test by pulling and pushing bottom of door until tight.

Grease nipple broke off..grease spun out, bearing got dry..overheated and failed with a loud bang..with me driving. It appears that the nipple failed some time ago and the bearing was not serviced...drove home on front axles.

Switched to 255-85-16s for better grip at high speed in the slush. The 305s were sliding a lot.

255-85-16s... Way better traction and grip.

Yes I was a bit pissed..basic lack of maintenance ..the bang when it let go scared the crap out of me.
Those 255s are the best...amazing grip and it cuts through the slush with ease..less stress on the steering.

The 2005 Taco is much faster but has to be cautious with the big ruts and holes.
I think the roof rack and wide fenders create lots of wind resistance.
