What size tires do you want to run now and in the future?

The tires im looking at buying are 265/70/17 but I might also go with 285/65/17. And yes i know I will have to do some trimming for the 285s

Im running 265/70/17's with a 2 inch lift and 4.5 backspace on the rims. I had to remove the mudflaps behind the front tire and the ones infront of the front tire tore off.

Let us know if you plan to stay at stock height or if you plan to add a lift and if so, how much lift.

For a 265/70/17 a typical 17x8 with with 4.5-5.0" BS will work, but if you plan to go with 285s, you're better off with 4.5" BS to avoid rubbing you UCA.

I have a 3inch lift on the truck already. So how much of an affect does the offset have? The ones im looking at have an offset of 12,

Most guys on here run 17x9 with -12mm offset. They will work, but you're going to rub the plastic liner and the cab mount area. You will need 4.5" BS if you want to run 285s. If you have no intentions of ever going with 285s, something with 5.0-5.5" BS will give you less rubbing.

So a 17x9 will work for a 265? wont a -12 offset set the wheel out past the fender?

Some 265s are approved for 9" wide wheels, some are not.

9" wide and -12 offset will stick out ~3" more than stock wheels

It depends on the actual tire size. You didn't specify the sidewall aspect ratio, 265/?/17? Decide on the tire size and check the manufacturer's website to see the approved wheel width recommendations.

    Sorry for stealing the thread.
    I just got 265/70 17 tires with 17x9 OS: 0mm BS: 5.00" wheels.
Will it rub with a 2.25" front lift kit?
    How about 3" ?
I do city driving and I want to keep the mudflaps

Thanks, I installed the 2.25" and it's very very close on the front part of the tire when turning almost full lock, but it doesn't rub.
