That one goofy doctor guy in Woodbury made some ductape armor on Walking Dead, seemed to work pretty good!

Sidenote, anyone seen the World War Z movie trailer. I just saw it last night and all I thought was "Oh look its Brad Pitt. Oh what is going down in this city there in? What the hell hit that policeman? And why the hell are these millions of people running so fast and so close together. Oh they are zombies, weird!"

I don't consider myself a survivalist, just someone who is prepared. Some of the things I carry in or on my truck are:

    5. Gal gas can
    5 gal water
    Mres
    Extra clothes
    Boots
    Fire starting materials
Sterno emergency stove and 4 cans of fuel
9mm pistol 6 mags and 250 rounds of ammo
Get home bag that has other things in it.

May not be able to survive anything but it makes me feel better to have some things to get through a situation better.

Plus some things come in handy in everyday non survival situations. Needed a bottle of water for someone at my daughters softball game that forgot it. Used ponchos when an unexpected rain came about me and the family.

Thinking about getting some of the prepaid meals from Wise Company - anybody ever bought stuff from them?

Also trying to decide the best way to store stuff in my regular cab. I love this truck more than the two other 2nd gens I've had, but finding ways to store stuff is becoming a bit of a challenge.

Hell, I can't even make food that's edible fresh, much less food that would stay good for months. :p

My whole thing now is not so much what to get to keep at home, it's what to get to keep in my truck at all times.

With the Florida heat and humidity, it freaks me out keeping anything in the tool box that is remotely perishable, rust-prone, etc. As for inside the cab, if I want to have a passenger ride with me, it's the glove box or center console and that's where I have my pocket masks and such.

We just got a storage unit under our condo to move some of our larger, rarely used stuff to (suitcases, boxes of shit, etc.) to make room for other things. The girlfriend doesn't know that it will likely be a few cases of food from Wise, some water, etc... :D

I also didn't jump on the ammo bandwagon when I should have. I'm having a hard time finding 9mm ammo anywhere.

Get one for the ammo available.

Florida is damn humid alright. I've wanted to compare wise against efoods.

You can still get anything you want, it's just that the prices blow. Make friends with your local walmart/cabelas/gander mt sporting goods dude and find out when the shipments come in. Or, pay out the nose and just get some nice high quality ammo in smaller quantities than normal... That's what I do. I still budget the same amount for ammo, just get less. On the other hand, the difference between high quality stuff and surplus is like 2% right now, so I end up with better ammo for a similar price point...

    Ha! Same mentality as me.

For the time being, I've slowed my search for a new shotgun. :D

Right now it's looking like the 500, 590 (A1, preferably) or the 535 (Gander Mountain "exclusive").

    Thanks for the input!

I can't even find the small quantity stuff. When I clicked on your link to the 9mm ammo, it said they were all sold out. My timing is atrocious.

I've signed up for e-mail notifications for almost every 9mm ammo they offer on Midway USA and Bud's Gun Shop.

I'll keep an eye out on the site you linked to and see what I find. I don't mind paying higher prices at all and certainly don't mind stocking up on the good stuff. :D

    Thanks for your input, gents!

Looks like BulkAmmo.com had some JHPs in stock. Don't need a ton of that stuff but could use another 100rds or so. Got one box at $60.

The one thats hardest to find is the one you need the most. 22LR is perfect for hunting small game (far more abundant than larger animals that will be hunted to extinction within1 year of the zombie apocalypse), great for stealth hunting. It also easily penetrated the skull and will do a fine job of dispatching walkers. A brick of 500 is $20.

Yep. Here in Colorado you are much better off staying at home with ALL your stuff compared to taking only one truck full and fighting off all the predators that will be also heading into the mountains. Most important resource here is water--there's just not much of it around.
