after the abuse i have given a very stout set of 3/16 steel skidplates I wouldn't even think of making them plastic....

you start getting into the sharper rocks that stick up you may not crack it being that your thinking 1/2" but you may gouge it which over time more and more gouges will weaken it... thats just my 2 cents though

    Lol

Look up UHMW man. This isn't ABS plastic. Very very different. Lots of people use them for skids.

Including the custom built SAC 2nd gen that did the Ultimate trail trip or whatever..

    Brady help me out.

See I don't know the guys on pirate give it mixed reviews some say they will never go back to steel some say they'll never go back to plastic... it sounds like the trend is to go thick though more like 3/4"

Go for it ... don't let me stop you

Well that's a record for me, just finished the drive straight through from your place. Right ~ 1,500 miles soooo 24-25hrs on the road. :anonymous:

    Anyhoooo........

I never thought I'd see Monte burned out from installing lights on his truck...

    :rimshot:

Lame I know. I had a lot of time to think haha

    Couple of thoughts...

If you go with a center diff, can you use any of those that you find on all the IRS SUVs out there, or are most of those complete shit?

Also, why make skids now if you're going to go LT soon? Or are you going to just turn around and sell it and make a new one when the LT is installed?

Yea ill just redo skids later.

And not sure about center diff..I just am not well seasoned enough at fabbing yet to think about that..

    But who knows haha

Supra diff might be use able..biggest issue is still being able to fit 4.88s..

And good to see your alive!

That's a shit ton of driving..

    Center front diff lol

    Ours are offset.

By moving it to the center you can make much longer a arms and get huge travel. What all the baja trucks are.

They are mid mount motor too tho..

Nice work on the drive Jon! I'll be doing the same drive at the end of June. I-90 is the worst part!!!

Interested to see how these plastic skids work for you Monte(if you go with them). If it's anything like the uvpe plastic some nalgenes are made of it should be nice and slippery!

Yea supposed to slide real nice :D

The more I look at it the more I think my belly will be 3/4-1" UHMW but the front 3/16s steel just so I don't loos an 1" of ground clearance haha

Also just traded my dad his Ultra Guage for my AEM Wide Band O2 sensor. Apparently the ultra Guage screws with his Uconn and I'm not using the wide and. So cool!

Now ill know my real speed an mpgs.

Jon also inspired me to get off my ass and do something with the truck again.

So, trying to get my steering rack bushings vs in right now. Not sure ill be able too due to only having one 22mm socket.

And I'm going to try and finally put my solid tranny and motor mounts in and see if I like them.
